Cruising excitement is determined by the destination with the starting point setting the tone for the entire vacation. Where you step on that large ship will give you two things. The first thing to keep in mind is not to forget a tour or visit of the city where you leave from, so enjoy the starting point. The second factor to consider is that where you leave from will have a lot of people from that area to be your shipmates for the duration of the cruise.
Coffee In Seattle
When traveling make sure you partake of special foods or drinks of the area. A cruise to Alaska gets a great start in Seattle. This place is known for Seattle’s Best Coffee and the Space Needle. A great picture with little expense would be to have a cup of this coffee in your hand in front at that location.
Other cruise ports have local people cruising more than in Seattle because Alaska is such a unique destination. Your ship will be filled with a diverse crowd comprised of less party people and older folks. Try to arrive in Seattle the night before the cruise to enjoy walking around the area. Pikes Market and the port area is a beautiful place.
Riches of Miami
The TV show CSI Miami glamorized this city. While enjoying a drink on the deck of your ship you can see first hand the glamorous homes that overlook the bay. Be sure to notice the view of from the ship towards the shore here that will remind you of the rich folks portrayed on television.
If you have access to a car and a couple of days to spare, drive to Key West while there. The road is so narrow in places you feel like you are driving on the ocean, and the view is beautiful. Be sure to see South Beach with the beautiful buildings. Also, the best Cuban food available anywhere can be found in Miami.
For the cruise that really thrills leave out of Barcelona, Spain. The Mediterranean route that goes along the coast of Italy and touches France is a great sampler of that part of Europe. Spend a few days in Barcelona upon arrival or leaving the cruise.
Eat at a restaurant in the Olympic area directly on the ocean. Try paella, the Spanish food famous in this city for an authentic treat. Tour the city and see magnificent architecture you will see nowhere else. The entire city and port of Barcelona is really special to visit. Find a cruise that leaves out of one of these three cruise ports and enjoy the experience before or after cruising.
