I absolutely adore a particular craft that has many possibilities. It’s a 3-D sparkle jar and you have to see it to believe the beauty of it. If I said that you could make gorgeous, decorative jars with cellophane and stickers, you might doubt that. But when you make one – with the theme that you want – you’ll definitely want to make more. They can set on shelves, tables, and mantles. They can be given as gifts or set around your own home. They can have ocean themes, baby themes, pet or wild animal themes – it’s all up to you. Get a Mason jar, some cellophane, and a few other supplies. You won’t believe how cheap, easy, and stunning the finished jar will be.
Cellophane comes in many colors but the clear type is what you need to make a 3-D sparkle jar. Shred some cellophane to lay the base for your jar. After shredding it, which can be done in a shredder or with scissors, fill the Mason jar nearly to the top.
Decide on a theme for your 3-D sparkle jar. Some themes that you could do, besides those already mentioned, include a family theme, a vacation theme, or a memorial theme. Then, use stickers and other elements to create the look for the jar. When you put pictures and other things in the jar with the cellophane, some items look up close and clear, and other elements look faded and deep within the jar. It’s a beautiful creation where you decide on the design.
In some cases, you can reach inside the jar, and place a sticker on some of the cellophane. In other cases, spread the cellophane, and push the item in deep. An example of a particular 3-D sparkle jar is a tree scene. Use a small twig arrangement – real or not. Spread the cellophane and lower the tree into the jar. Then, looking through the jar, place bird stickers onto the cellophane so that they are seemingly in and around the tree. Put some of the stickers close to the jar and others deep into the jar. You’ll create a 3-D look that sparkles because of the cellophane. If you want, add glitter to create even more sparkle.
You might find it easiest to use skewer pieces to insert the images that you like. Cut pictures from magazines, calendars, or other sources, or use stickers, and put each one on a skewer. Wrap the skewer with cellophane and tape it to secure. Glue the picture to the skewer and then lower it into the jar. Create the design that you like and then display it.
