3 Elegant Halloween Party Hosting Tips

by fat vox

For most, when thinking about a Halloween party, images of tacky spiderwebs and kid-carved pumpkins come to mind. Here are 3 tips that I am sharing with you in hopes to keep your Halloween party sophisticated and elegant.

1. Instead of ghouls and goblins opt for a fall motif for your decorations.
Fall is a beautiful season with the many color changes that occur. For a classy Halloween party go more for colorful leaves and pumpkins that are not carved, instead of spiderwebs and jack-o-lanterns. I personally enjoy going to Michaels for my fall decorating needs. They have a large selection of fake flowers and leaves that look very sophisticated. If you are not that great when it comes to making decorations on your own, you can easily custom order centerpieces and flower arrangements there.

In the pictures provided with this article are some of my personal decorating touches. The mantle above the fireplace is a great place to decorate. Add a garland of fall leaves, some small pumpkins, and candles to it and it’s all ready to go. Finding pumpkins of various color, such as green and yellow, help make different pieces standout. Using the fake pieces rather than choosing to go fresh can help your displays last longer. Also opting to go the fall route can let your pieces stay out for Thanksgiving as well.

2. Create a signature drink.
Instead of having too many choices for drinks, create a signature drink. One idea is to make your drink an adult version of apple cider. Select glassware that is to be only served with this drink. If you are having a lot of guests have several glasses full of your drink, so guests can easily grab one, instead of having to wait to be served. Throughout the night, collect the dirty glasses and put them directly into the dishwasher so your party isn’t overwhelmed with dirty dishes.

3. Make sure your invitations are informative.
When you want to have a certain kind of party, you need to make sure your guests are well-informed. If this is to be an adult-only party, make sure it says so on the invitations. It can be embarrassing for your guest if they show up with their child and can create chaos trying to make sure the child doesn’t drink any adult beverages. Your invitations are the first thing your guests will see. It is meant to set the mood and be informative. If you truly want this to be a sophisticated affair, choose an invitation that is sophisticated as well.
