It can be very difficult as a parent to ensure that your children are eating healthy. Especially when we live in a society where finding fresh healthy food choices is becoming more difficult. Years ago you used to be able to walk down to the local farm and purchase fresh eggs, and vegetables. Well those days are just about gone. Sure you still have some farmers markets which offer fresh options, but in some areas these are getting more difficult to find. This does not mean that you cannot feed your family healthy foods. It just means you have to work a little harder to find what is available. At the same time however you can teach your children how to find healthy food choices and help them see the benefits of eating more raw foods. This does not mean their entire diet has to be raw, since there are many benefits to cooked foods as well. My goal is to show you the benefits of making your child’s diet 85% raw foods.
1. Healthier weight
It’s no secret that many children in America are overweight. With more kids staying indoors to play video games, and eating foods that are high in preservatives, and dyes, it’s really no surprise, that more are overweight. Giving your child a diet that involves eating more fresh fruit, and vegetables, helps give them the energy they need to stay active, and keeps their body functioning properly.
2. Less Colds
Have you ever noticed that as soon as kids go back to school they end up getting sick. Usually this continues to occur during the course of the school year. At least once a month someone in your home will be sick, and usually it starts with the kids. Feeding your kids raw foods at least twice a day can help to boost up their immune system. Junk foods, and foods filled with unhealthy fats, cause the immune system to be weak and not function properly.
3. Lower risk of disease
Kids today are at risk for so many different diseases, including heart disease. It may seem odd to think of a young child as being at risk for heart disease but they are. A lot of this has to do with the type of food that they are eating. If they start eating more raw foods in their diet when they are young they are more likely to continue eating this way as they get older.
4. Learning to love the taste of healthy
Another top benefit is that if you start giving your children more natural, raw foods to eat while they are young they will develop a taste for it. It’s amazing how all of the chemicals found in the processed foods get you hooked on them. However the more you eat natural healthy food, the more you crave the healthy options.
5. Improved grades
A lot of people may not agree, but I have personally seen the benefits of giving your children more natural foods to eat. When it comes to them learning they are better focused, and able to concentrate for an entire day, just by starting their day healthy. Many kids end up feeling the mid morning slump, once their sugary breakfast cereal wears off. Those cereals don’t do much for kids when it comes to energy, and brain function. So if your child is struggling at school, one of the problems could be their diet.
