The most important thing to remember about “Trash the dress” sessions for after your wedding is that you should have fun and be creative. If you aren’t having an absolute BLAST during the photo session, it will show!
The following will include five tips you can follow to have a perfect “Trash the dress” experience.
Local River
We’ll start with what is by far one of the most obvious “Trash the dress” locations. Go to a local river, creek, or stream! Find some beautiful body of water, and get plenty of photos of the bride having a blast in the water. Get photos of the bride splashing water, laying in the water, standing in waist deep water, or even a shot with all of her body besides her face underwater. These will make some great shots. To find rivers or creeks close to your wedding location, visit with your state’s Department of Conversation. For example, if your wedding was in Missouri, you could go to www.mdc.mo.gov to start your search.
Color Run
For “Trash the dress” photo shoots, you want to get your dress literally as trashed as possible, and have a blast in the process. What is better than going to a Color Run, which is supposed to be “The happiest 5k on the planet?” By the time you finish a Color Run race, your white dress will have vibrant, bright, beautiful colors. Throughout the race, the race helpers will throw a rainbow of colors on you. Also, at the very end, there is a Color Run party where even more color powder will get all over your dress. These Color Run races are all around the country. To find out when a Color Run race will be in your neck of the woods, go to http://thecolorrun.com/.
Water Park
Take your dress to a water park! Find somewhere with water slides, and a kids area with water activities. Speak with the park director in advance, and explain what you’re doing. The more local and small the water park is, the more likely they will be to go along with your idea. Get plenty of shots going down the water slides and playing in the kids’ area. Not many people have caught on to the whole water park idea yet, but it is sure to catch on soon! Be one of the first to try out this crazy, new idea.
The Beach
Did you ever make snow angels when you were a kid? Well, if you’re on the beach, go ahead and make sand angels! You can include your (shirtless) hubby in these shots, too. The will look great. All you have to so is move your arms and legs just like you would if you were making a snow angel. The sand may be a little itchy, but it will be oh so worth it!
Train Tracks
Another easy, but creative looking photo shoot option for brides wanting to “Trash the dress” is railroad tracks. Find somewhere in your area that is scenic that the train tracks run through. If you can find abandoned train tracks that are no longer in use, that is even better. Lay down on the tracks. Your photographer can get a beautiful shot of you. For an added bonus, bring along some vintage luggage. Have your hubby get in some of the shots with you, and walk along the tracks together, holding the luggage. This way, it will look like you are starting a new journey together– which you really are!
