Let’s face it. Very few of us will vote on a property tax increase to help fund the local schools, but no one wants schools to fail. With money and time in scarce supply, many of us don’t have either to help raise money for schools. But luckily, there is a solution. Several well-known businesses have created school programs that give back to local schools when we purchase their products. By buying the things that we use nearly every day, the following businesses will donate educational tools and resources that our schools need. All that the schools and you need to do is to enroll and participate. All the school programs listed below are free to enroll.
Please visit each corporation’s website for more details on which participating products are included in their money raising school program.
Their school program is called, “Labels for Education.”
Campbell’s has over 2,500 participating products that feature their “Labels for Education” points either on the UPC or cap. The points are redeemed by the school for educational resources.
The Coca-Cola Company
Their rewards program is called, “My Coke Rewards.”
Type in the codes that are found on many Coca-Cola products, either under the soda caps or inside the soda boxes. The minimum amount that you can donate is 35 points. The school can use these points toward things that schools need, such as school supplies, athletic equipment, and books.
Their school program is called, “5 Percent Back To Schools Program.”
According to their website, Office Depot will provide “credits equal to 5 percent of the qualifying purchases in the form of an Office Depot Merchandise Card that can be used towards free supplies!”
Scholastic Book Club
Their school program is called, “Classroom Rewards.”
Schools earn free books when their students buy books from Scholastic.
Space Coast Credit Union
Their school program is called, “Education Donation Program.”
Just use your SCCU Visa Platinum credit card for your purchases, and the amount that you selected when you enrolled (10 percent – 75 percent) of your monthly points is reserved for the school or educator of your choice.
For the school to save even more money, a parent volunteer could offer to enroll the school in the above programs, set up the collection boxes and redeem the labels and caps for the school by sending those labels and caps into the businesses every month, where applicable.
By having your school enroll in one or more of these programs, your school will benefit greatly, and they will enjoy having the support of the community in helping the school fulfilling its needs for the children. Happy school fundraising!
