As 2013 comes to an end many must-see movies will be released in theaters. Most of these movies have been anticipated for a long time. Here’s a look at 5 of the most-anticipated films that are to be released this holiday season.
‘Carrie’
On October 18 a new version of ‘Carrie’ will be released. The reason why this movie is much anticipated is because much time has passed from the 1976 original and special effects have come a long way. This time around Chloe Grace Moretz plays the title character. Moretz is no stranger to remakes having starred in ‘Let Me In’ and remake of the Swedish film ‘Let the Right One In’. Hype for this movie is strong thanks to the marketing team promoting the movie. Recently a coffee shop prank mimicking the telekinetic abilities of Carrie has gone viral.
‘Blue Is the Warmest Color’
‘Blue Is the Warmest Color’ has an interesting back story an is surrounded with controversy. It is a French film based on a graphic novel and tells the story of 15-year-old Adele, played by Adele Exarchopoulos, and an older art student named Emma, played by Lea Seydoux, engaging in an erotic romance. This film won the Palme d’Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and has been rated NC-17 due to the graphic sex scenes. Because of the subject matter and rating of the film there has been a lot of controversy. Even an article written on Variety noted that those type of graphic sex scenes are not usually seen in cinematic films. ‘Blue’ will be released in U.S. theaters on October 25.
