Sometimes we don’t realize how stressed we truly are until we are about to snap. Take these 5 steps and learn how to breath and just relax. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: “67 million American adults (31%) have high blood pressure-that’s 1 in every 3 American adults. Anyone, including children, can develop high blood pressure. It greatly increases the risk for heart disease and stroke, the first and third leading causes of death in the United States. We live in a country filled with high blood pressure and stressed people everywhere. According to Anxiety and Depression Association of America: “Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older (18% of U.S. population).” That is a lot of stressful people with high blood pressure here in the US! 1 in every 3 Americans shocked me. High blood pressure causes so many issues, including death. We need to try to relax and de-stress ourselves when needed to prevent high blood pressure, anxiety attacks and depression. Of course, when things are severe, you must consult a doctor. But why not take a few minutes to unwind and do something to lower your stress. Here are five ideas that I have to lower your stress and anxiety on a bad day.
Sounds crazy doesn’t it? Why would I want to clean? Ever look in your kitchen and see a mess, then downstairs and see the laundry on the couch? Is your bathroom a mess? Take an hour and clean the room from top to bottom. Every woman loves a clean room and in the end it honestly relieves stress to see a clean un-cluttered room.
2. Take a Walk Unwind, put your walking shoes on and walk around the block.
It’s crazy how a simple 30 minute walk can unwind and clear your head
3. Rent a Funny Movie or Watch a Funny Show
Somehow when we laugh, we heal. Had a horrible day at work? Stressed out with your boss? Failed a college exam? Take an hour out of your evening and watch the movie that will make you laugh. Smiling and Laughing have a funny way of healing our bad days sometimes.
Have you ever done yoga? It’s not just for the fit and fabulous. Try a yoga class, even a candlelight yoga class to unwind. It relaxes you like no other and helps you de-stress all of your worries for that day. It made me feel relaxed and I literally forgot about my problems for awhile.
5. Take a Bath
Grab a glass of wine, a candle and some bubble bath. I even like turning on some music to unwind and relax. Take an hour to just sit there, relax and unwind. Don’t think about anything. Don’t check your phone or emails. Just unwind and completely relax. If you want, bring a book or magazine in with you to enjoy your relaxing time, but nothing that you’re supposed to read (like a work article or school book). Take that time for yourself to just unwind.
Relax and Breath. Hope these 5 ideas helped and help you relax after your stressful day.
