In the last month, MTV has announced several new TV shows that will be coming to their network. Here’s a sneak peak at some of MTV’s new projects, and what they have in store for their viewers this year.
MTV will be creating a TV series based on the popular teen horror movies, Scream (there are four movies total). According to Deadline, “MTV has big plans for the project, announcing that the potential series already has been slated for a summer 2014 debut. Dimension Films is in discussions with the films’ original director Wes Craven to direct the pilot.”
Generation Cyro is a reality series following seventeen year old Breeanna, who was conceived via an anonymous sperm donor. Breeanna registers with the ‘Donor Sibling Registry,’ and realizes she has 15 half-brothers and sisters out there who were all conceived from the sperm of the same anonymous donor. The series follows her travelling across the country to meet and round up her siblings, so they can all embark on the journey of finding their Dad (the anonymous sperm donor) together.
Nurse Nation is another docu-series that follows nine young travel nurses. The nurses are assigned to a new hospital in a new city, and must live and work there for thirteen weeks. The cameras follow them on their daily jobs in their stressful medical profession, and also outside of work as they struggle to make new friends in the strange city, and keep their relationships with those they left back home alive.
Andrew Schulz (Guy Code) is set to host this dating show, which will air in an afternoon timeslot. On The Hook-Up, a contestant chooses four girls from a social networking site, and his friends will cyber stalk the contestants and choose which one they think he should date.
This half-hour mock-courtroom comedy is set to air in the fall of 2013. Several MTV comedians will determine if the parties in their courtroom are guilty or innocent according to the laws of Guy Code.
This reality series is set to follow an up-and-coming pop girl-band, as they struggle to make it in the music industry and score a record label. The band will be coached and managed by Joe Simpson (the father and ex-manager of singer Jessica Simpson). The first episode of The Alextric is set to air on June 4th at 11:00 PM.
South Of Heaven
South of Heaven (working title) is another docu-series, set to follow the lives of a group of young women working in a Texas honky-tonk bar. South of Heaven will be premiering in the fall.
