B Reed and Fame turned the south upside down in 2012 with their hit song ‘Club Rock’ and now they are releasing their new album Yung Nation University 2: Sophomore Status in March. I sat down with the explosive duo to discuss what’s new for them in 2013.
How did you guys get started?
We started rapping during basketball practice with each other when we were kids. Been doing it ever since.
What influenced you to go back to the 80’s with your fashion and hair style?
Its really just fooly. It’s a nupid life style. We liked the swag in 80s-early 90’s so we’re rocking with it with a 90s babies twist.
Do you consider yourselves trendsetters? If so why?
We just do Nation, our circle is watched so people pick up on it. From the hair cuts, to fashion, to rapping and to Nation Gang dancing (skitzing). We like everyone to be Nation, it’s a growing family.
What is your response to people saying that hip hop is dying?
Hip-Hop is alive more than ever. We in the digital age of it now, its just a different time with new rules and a new yung breed of artists.
Who are your favorite hip hop artists?
Right now: Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Chief Keef, Future
What is the name of your next project?

When people press play on the next project what kind of music will they hear?
Expect to hear nothing but Yung Nation. We been working on our new sound, its gonna appeal to thugs and white kids in the ‘burbs. It’s the new YN sound. YNU 2 March 13!
What type of live show can the fans expect when you come to their town?
Expect nupidity, expect the unexpected. We give it our all at every show.
What are your long term goals?
To keep evolving, keep adapting, keep setting trends. Long as we do that, we can do whatever we want. We want to sell records, do shows, and get money with our bros. Its Yung Nation.
Who are some of the people responsible for your success?
Our fans are responsible. They keep us going every day. Our work up from kids in Thugboss Nation and everyone involved with that, to our team right now: Digital Exec Merk, Q Smith, Coach Murk, and our big bro Dorrough Music. YN x PTC x NG
