Gordon Baker was a retired volunteer Tourism Image Consultant, with 20 years of experience in helping small town America discover new ideas for tourist attractions. He has come out of retirement to pursue, what could be the greatest tourist attraction of them all.
On the drawing board, he has plans to build a full scale replica of a starship. Yes, you read the sentence correct. The starship will be a massive project, and when finished it will be 1400 feet long, 450 feet wide and 375 feet high.
He estimates the cost of building the starship, and landscaping the park that it will sit in at 1.5 billion dollars. That is a hefty chunk of change, but he says this is not going to be your average run of the mill tourist attraction.
His reason for wanting to do this is, to give back to his hometown and make it a better place for future generations. Well, you can’t argue with that.
This project will create hundreds of good paying jobs in the construction stage, and a lot of full time and part time jobs when it is finished. This venture will be like an adrenaline rush for the city. In addition, it will supercharge a new tourism industry that the city can pursue.
The country will also benefit, by millions of tourists worldwide wanting to personally visit something that has never been built before. Whether people are young, middle age, or seniors, the idea of going inside an authentic starship and exploring all it has to offer, will be the holiday of a lifetime.
On the subject of exploring the inside, this will be discussed more in the continuing article identified as part 2. However, by the look, feel, and sounds you will know you’re aboard a starship. Want to experience how it feels to have your body taken apart, and put back together. Or, maybe you would like to find out how fast your draw is, when you go up against some of the fastest guns in the Old American West. You will be able to experience that and more on the starship’s holodeck.
If a company or individual ever wanted to be immortalized, this may be your lucky day. The company or individual, with the largest donation towards this project is going to win the right to name the starship. Having said that, this is going to be a very popular tourist attraction, and it will be necessary to follow protocols in choosing a name.
However, if your donation is not the largest don’t fret, because there are some very important secondary items to name, such as the convention centre, the theatre, the scout ship and the park.
Look for part 2 of this article in a few weeks, as we take a more in-depth tour of the starship’s interior. If you just can’t wait, then please visit the starship’s home page at http://fortberry.wix.com/starship-attraction.
