Alternate Ending to Dexter

by fat vox

The final season of Dexter wasn’t the most favored by fans based on what I have seen posted by others in various places. I didn’t find it all that bad, even though it was far from my favorite. I think the final season of anything leaves less than to be desired because the entire time they are preparing for the ending. I feel the writers kind of let the final episode drop off a cliff and fall into the ocean, literally.

It showed Deb being killed, Hannah successfully making it to Argentina, and Dexter faking his own death and becoming a lumberjack. Let’s face it, nobody liked that ending. I wanted something that makes all of the other seasons of Dexter make sense and all come together. I’m certain there are plenty other variations on how this scenario would have panned out better. This ending better sums up what I feel about all the seasons of Dexter.

Hannah could have come back to this season, but from far away. She could have played someone from far away plotting to seek revenge on Dexter for throwing her under the bus. Evelyn desperately wants to open up his brain and perform research on the workings of a psychopath. This leads to an obsession on her part where she wants him dead, and Hannah is more than willing to help make that happen.

The one Dexter wants killed most throughout this season is Saxon, and I would leave that one alone. After Saxon shoots Deb she lives, even though that is unknown to Quinn and Batista at the time of Saxon’s questioning. Quinn loses it and kills Saxon while in the interrogation room and Dexter watches with a dreamy look on his face. While Deb is in the hospital, thinking she might die of her injuries she confesses to Maria’s murder. Deb informs Dexter over the phone that she just confessed to the murder, and from there the police reopen the investigation. They’re thinking that this could potentially be a confession based on guilt and not facts, but they reopen it just in case. It is then that Angel Batista discovers evidence that link both Dexter and Debra to the murder. The evidence also implies, once again, that Dexter is the Bay harbor butcher. Deb recovers and Dexter sneaks into Deb’s room and takes her unnoticed. Quinn is now also in trouble for murdering Saxon during the questioning, but Angel is trying to help keep him out of trouble for doing so.

The storm is coming and the whole world is coming down on Deb, Dexter, and Quinn. They have to get out of Miami as soon as possible. There are detectives and a lot of police waiting for all of them at the airport, however. After a lot of running throughout the airport and hiding they decide to jump on Dexter’s boat and head to Argentina that way. Once they arrive in Argentina Dexter gets a phone call from Lumen, and she needs help to cover up a murder that she committed. Dexter sends Lumen a plane ticket to Argentina, and they begin their romance once again. Debra and Quinn also rekindle their romance. The very end of the episode shows life in Argentina ten years later, and Dexter teaching Harrison the code.
