Susie sat in the middle of the meadow with the gun in her lap, and she just sat there deciding what to do. Should she take her life or she should she go back to tell her friends that the love of her life just dump her? That wasn’t the only reason that Susie was sitting in the middle of the field feeling totally rejected and ready to take her life. Something, she said she would never be able to do even if it was during the worst time in her life. She had no one to tell her problems to and she needed someone to help her get through the rough time she had ahead.
She slowly closed her eyes as her fingers stroked the gun that was resting on her lap, and she thought she could rustle in the grass around her. Hearing little voices calling her name, Susie thought she was going half crazy with the total desperate of being rejected. She jerked her hand downward as she felt something small go across her hand and she carefully opened one eye to see what ugly small creature was sitting on her hand.
A small white creature was fluttering around her hand and when it looked up toward her face, Susie swore the little creature was actually smiling at her and she started to feel light headed. She carefully lay down on her stomach because she knew deep down in her soul that she had nothing to fear from the small creature. The creature smiled and softly whispered “Susie!”
That was the last thing she remembered as she passed out and her head went down to land on the ground with a soft thud. The gun slipped off her lap to come to rest only inches from her body and the little creature once again started to flutter around her head. She whispered once more for Susie to rest and they would talk again when she woke up.
Slowly, Susie came back to the world of living and opened her eyes to see if the hallucination was still there. She could see the little creature sitting on small rock only inches from her and the little creature had her back to her. Susie reached out her fingers to see if she could touch the wings on the back of the little creature. As she caressed the silver wings, she felt their softness and watched as light seemed to shine from their form. As she caressed their softness, she felt safe and knew the small creature would not harm her in any way.
The small creature turned to see who was touching her and whispered softly, “Hi Susie! Nothing is worth taking your life. Please don’t use the gun to harm yourself in anyway.”
Remembering the gun, Susie started looking around for it and she looked at the small creature when she couldn’t find it. “Where is the gun? What are you? What is your name? Am I hallucinating?”
The little creature smiled at Susie and said “My name is Ruth. I am one of God’s small creatures that come down to Earth to help anyone that is thinking about taking their precious life. The gun is in hiding, and we will bring it out when you tell us you aren’t going to use it to end your life.”
Susie gazed at Ruth; the small creature that God had sent to save her and her mind was full of question that she wanted to ask. Susie watched as Ruth smiled at her and said “I know that you have a lot of questions, and I will be around you for a long time to come. Have you ever heard about angels sitting on your shoulder and the angels bring the people love and peace. I am here on Earth to be your friend and to help you stay on God’s narrow path of life that He has for you.”
Susie said “We will always be friends, and I will be happy to have you sit on my shoulder to guide me through life. I am over thinking stupid, and I will put the gun back without using it. Are you coming home with me?”
Ruth, the little angel creature nodded in agreement and Susie stood up in the meadow to stretch her weary bones. They walked into the sunset like lovers do, and if by magic (angel magic); the gun was stashed in the trunk of her car without Susie actually remembering to pick it up.
