In music, many things change. Styles, sounds, artists, song structures, all of it changes, but one thing is certain to never change, and that is the desire of premium sound quality.
Sound quality in and of itself is a major reason for the development of audio technology having switched from analog to digital processing, and because of the complexities and brilliance of the human ear, it matters even more when we can hear change, particularly change that is positive makes what we hear more grand. Fortunately leading headphone maker Skullcandy has brought to the marketplace its patented audio headwear set – the Skullcandy Crusher.
The Crusher – visible above and in great detail here – has all of things that you’d desire from a pair of headphones – comfort, sleekness, attractiveness, portability – but these deliver the bass, and hard. Named presumably for its hyperbolic ability to crush your skull with bass, the Crusher makes its major mark in giving you the ability to adjust the bass of a song independently through the headphones themselves. Equipped with Skullcandy’s Sensation55 Driver (engineered to create nervy bass in each ear), the Crusher can physically ring the ears with the touch of a sliding button and the results are literally palpable.
Just for good measure, I tried the Skullcandy Crusher on JAY Z’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail”, one of the most sonically-sharp albums that’s been made today. As I slid the bass level up on the Crusher, my ears vibrated (a little too much, I started to feel a slight queasiness from the vibrations – be safe with all sort of headphones and audio headwear).
The great thing about the Crusher? Even without the bass enhanced, the sound is really great. In addition to the Sensation55 Driver, the headphones have installed the REX40 Driver, which ensures a smooth sound that also clarifies the already-present bass that may already be playing in your favorite songs to play.
I also appreciated, as you likely would, that the Crusher has its own mic (dubbed the Mic1) that allows you talk on the phone while your headphones are in use with the music in your smartphone. The Crusher is foldable, also, and comes with a travel bag that allows you to stick your headphones in a safe place, just in case you need to tuck them away.
If you’re looking for a pair of headphones that are low-profile, unique, and expound on the bass that you might desire for your listening experience, the Skullcandy Crusher is a good way to go.
Just be sure not to crush your skull in the process.
