If you’re gonna have paradise, the best way to have it is pure and unsullied. This may be why Bath & Body Works has dubbed a new fragrance line the Pure Paradise collection. Launched in early May, the displays at stores are compelling, with a come-hither appeal. The following review looks at how well the actual product stacks up to the hype.
When I looked up various definitions of paradise, I discovered references to heaven, the garden of Eden, a righteous reward, an attractive and lovely place and states of bliss and felicity, etc. By any definition, paradise is certainly considered to be a desirable place to be. By any measure, it is exclusive and unique.
I have to admit that I have tried some impressive aromatics at Bath & Body Works. They seem to do a great job with their formulas. The unique thing about Pure Paradise is that it doesn’t reek of perfume. It is one of the more subtle, albeit delightful fragrances. I tried it out in the store; without making a purchase. I used the hand sanitizing scrub, the lotion and the spritz.
To be truthful, one place where I really like a subtle fragrance is in the stuff I use to wash my hands. I wash my hands often, as I am somewhat germaphobic. I prefer to not have an irritating perfume in whatever I use to do this frequent hand washing. Thus, I would definitely say that Pure Paradise hand scrub is the way to go. A blast of perfume does not cling to the hands after using this product.
As for the other two products; the lotion is fragrant; but not over the top. When I used a sample on my hands and arms, I felt like I was lost in a pillow-like cloud of trapped aromatics. I detected the aroma everywhere I used it, but it didn’t blow me away. As for the spritz, I felt as though I had been dusted with a gentle and tender mist when I used it in the store. Although I used it lavishly, I was not overwhelmed. I don’t write this to indicate that I was underwhelmed either.
I would say that this is the first of Bath & Body Works product collection that I believe was deliberately made to provide a hint and a glimpse of fragrance; rather than a blast. If you are looking for something that whispers instead of shouts, Pure Paradise is probably your best bet.
