Slated for release on November 8, 2013, Thor: The Dark World has stunning visual effects, which are perfect to enjoy in theaters, and will be available on 3D. Starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, the movie is a much anticipated release for the holiday season. Based on the Marvel Comics comic book series character Thor, the movie offers action, romance, and adventure, as Thor tries to reunite with Jane Foster.
The Book Thief
History buffs and intellectuals will enjoy the release of The Book Thief slated for November 8, 2013. Canadian child actress Sophie Nélisse plays the lead role of Liesel Meminger, a WWII Jewish refugee who steals books to share with others, after finding a book by her brothers’ graveside. Narrated by the character Death, the movie was originally a book created by author Markus Zusak. Actors Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson play Liesel’s foster parents.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Prepare for the new Hunger Games release in IMAX on November 22, 2013. Follow the story of Katniss and Peeta as the Capitol targets them for the rebellion they caused in the Districts of Panem. Rated PG-13, the movie can make a good Thanksgiving film to enjoy with family. Filmed around Atlanta and Hawaii, the movie was nominated for a Golden Trailer Award. According to Mockingjay, the movie boasts improved camera quality unlike the shaky camera effect from the last Hunger Games movie.
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane
Just in time for Halloween, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane has a limited theatrical release, with The Weinstein Company’s company Dimension Films, slated for October 6, 2013. Having premiered at numerous film festivals, including Toronto Film Festival, Sitges Film Festival, South by Southwest Film Festival, and London FrightFest Film Festival, the movie follows a pure high school girl Mandy (Amber Heard) after her guy friend Dylan dies jumping into a pool. Anson Mount, whose rise to popularity is marked by the HBO show Hell on Wheels being renewed for a third season, plays the ranch hand Garth. Village Voice recently shared that the movie is well worth a date night.
