From cotton candy princess, to shimmering mermaid, to hardcore punk rocker, there’s something in this list for everybody.
Halloween is a frame of mind, and doesn’t have to be just one day out of the year. Have you been looking for an excuse to have turquoise hair? That reason is here.
If you are trying to get a bright color, and have darker hair, you may need to bleach your hair, with something like this bleach kit, from Manic Panic. Remember, bleaching IS bad for your hair, making it slightly dryer and more frizzy. If you go this route, remember to wash out ALL the bleach, possibly washing your hair a few times, otherwise you may end up with an unexpected color (I’ve ended up with green hair 7 times).
If you’re at all nervous or inexperienced, consider consulting a beauty technician.
Want to get freaky and elaborate? Check out Color Jamz 2, from Beyond Zone. They have it at Sally Beauty Supply, which you can find nearly everywhere, and you can mix and match shades to create your own signature color. It’s cheap, at 9 dollars a bottle, but recommended for people with a bit of home hair-dying experience.
Manic Panic: The classic. The standard. Preferred by punks everywhere, why not take part in aninstitution? Their hair dye is VEGAN, and comes in just about every color imaginable. Manic Panic is not nearly as hardcore as it used to be, fading out in a couple of weeks, which is a bummer for fulltime punks, but may be preferable for your Halloween needs. Try the Pillarbox Red, for the brightest fire engine hair on the block, or the classic Cotton Candy Pink, for all your pastel goth needs. Electric Tiger Lily is a personal favorite, also, a really pretty orangey-red that is unique and eye-catching. Tish & Snooky
Special Effects: For another punky alternative (yes, punks are the go to guys and gals if you want freaky, colorful hair) check out Special Effects. I’ve never used their stuff, so I can’t vouch for it or say how it stacks up against Manic Panic, but they have some pretty and distinctive colors that are particularly neon incandescent. Glow in the dark with LIMELIGHT, NUCLEAR RED, or FISHBOWL! They carry Special Effects at Hot Topic, which can be found in most bigger malls, so these may be readily available to everybody. EFX
Rusk Scream: One last punky, freaky semi-permanent alternative. Rusk Scream is the color used by professional salons, so it’s probably legit. User reviews claim that it is easy to apply, even just combing it in, and that it is DEFINITELY semi-permanent and will fade in a week or so. They also say that they make the best pink dye on the planet. If you want the color to last longer, hit it with a hot iron. SCREAM QUEEN
If you are considering doing this yourself, you can check out this GUIDE TO UNNATURAL HAIR COLORING for further guidance and support.
Only need to dye your hair for one night? Colored hair sprays are the least commitment, of any hair coloring. From what I’ve read, it easily washes out with warm water, and will not stain light colored hair, but I cannot vouch for that personally. I CAN say that these hair sprays can run when wet, so be careful! You don’t want to ruin your ball gown. May make your hair slightly hard and crunchy, like any hairspray.
Easily the cheapest option, and they have a wide variety at Wal Mart, which can be found almost everywhere on Earth. THESE COLORS MAY RUN
Fright Night Spike & Color: Need to color your hair and spike it at the same time? Check out this little tube. It’s cheap, and it washes out easily in warm water. Perfect for fauxhawks and Sonic The Hedgehog costumes.

Princess Bubblegum: Everybody loves Adventure Time, young and old, so there will be plenty of Princess Bubblegums this year. Here’s a beautiful, layered Cotton Candy Pink wig, from Ebay. Try this long, straight alternative for a cheaper alternative.
Ariel: Is your daughter (or son) going to be a Mermaid Princess (or Belle, for that matter, as we all know they’re the same character) this year? Try these gorgeous red locks! Only 20 bucks! You can get her (or him) their very own tiara, from the very same shop.
