Football and food go together like, well, Sundays and football. Both are great, but together, they’re nearly unbeatable. Football is meant to be watched with delicious vittles to snack on. Don’t believe that? Simply look at how intense some football tailgaters are to see why that’s true.
Staying home doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy good food while you watch good games. This is especially true if you live in the New Milford, Connecticut, area. While there are plenty of restaurants offering take-out, one stands head and shoulders above the rest.
1st and 10 Sports Bar & Grill, located at 507 Federal Road, has a menu that practically begs to be brought home on Sundays. As the name implies, 1st and 10 is a sports bar, and has the distinction of being the only such bar in New Milford. While going to the bar on Sundays to watch football on their multiple big screens is an experience, doing so is certainly not a requirement to enjoy the delicious food it provides.
From their sizable appetizer menu to their wing options, 1st and 10 offers a menu like no other restaurant or bar in the area. Every appetizer is perfect for football, none more so then the Fighting Irish Nachos. Easily the best nachos in New Milford, the dish features homemade potato chips covered in cheeses, green onions, and sour cream before being topped off with chipotle sauce. The wing menu features more than 25 different sauces, as well as the option to choose more than one sauce with larger orders. Football calls for finger foods, and the appetizer menu is more than accommodating of that.
If you’re looking for something a little more filling than just wings, 1st and 10 is still the place to go over any other restaurant in New Milford. Their menu is varied enough to please even the most discerning fan. If your crew of football fans demands more substantial fare while they watch, check out the burgers and sandwiches, with names like The Cowboy, The Heisman, and The Patriot. Where most other restaurants in New Milford offer one kind of food, 1st and 10 offers many more choices.
Beyond being tasty and perfect for football on Sundays, 1st and 10 Bar & Grill offers great prices for huge portions. The kitchen moves food out quickly, but the bar fills up fast on Sundays. If you want the food ready by kickoff, make sure to order it about 45 minutes before game time.
