Season 2 for the Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance was released on August 1st, 2013. The new season introduced a host of new options, challenges, and rewards. Along with this new content there are now new ways to earn command points, obtain gold, and get hard-to-find agent gear. The following guide will teach you all of the best tricks for playing through season 2 of Marvel: Avengers Alliance.
Command Points – Playing through the season will earn you command points through boss roulettes, but there are also new opportunities for command points as well. The various tasks you need complete will earn you 50 command points. But, while those command points are assured, earning them that way isn’t much faster than the rate you will earn them from simply doing missions. The real trick to this new season is to do heroic battles. Heroic battles have a boss roulette that can potentially earn you up to 5 command points. More importantly, they have a chance of appearing at the start of a mission. The best way to farm heroic battles for command points is to buy Gambit and Rogue and farm mission 1. If the heroic battle doesn’t appear when you start the mission, abort and restart until it does. This is especially good for sandbaggers because your hero doesn’t gain experience from a heroic battle.
Gold – Unlike in the first season, the second season of Marvel: Avengers Alliance does not require obtaining points or stars to gain mastery. The removal of the star system means that you can no longer gain one gold per mission. Instead the new system rewards you 35 gold for mastering the mission. Even if you can’t master the mission, if you own Gambit you can earn 5 gold and if you own Gambit and Hercules you can earn 25 gold total, which is much higher than the maximum of 6 gold you could earn from missions in season 1.
Old PvP Items – Probably the best surprise of season 2 is the ability to earn agent gear that was only previously available from doing well in PvP seasons. Whenever you complete an incursion challenge, you will get a random item that has a chance of being an old PvP item. It is worth noting that one of the available items is the highly coveted Scroll of Angolob. Just like farming command points, the best way to farm these items is to start a mission and see if the incursion is available. If it isn’t, abort and restart until it is. This allows you to spend as little energy as possible while obtaining powerful items.
