In the Philippines, motorcycle riding is not simply about passion. It has already become a way of life; a way to survive poverty. Using a motorcycle, though risky, is now a preferred mode of transportation because it cuts travel time in half, saving on gasoline already stretches the household budget.
Riding can be compromised by a lot of factors. Air pollution, erratic weather conditions, back pain due to being saddled for a long time, dehydration and the list goes on. I always remind my bikers to invest in cost-effective supplements that can save them a trip to the hospital and, of course, to continuously enjoy riding.
The following is what I take on the road with me.
You Need: Sodium Ascorbate
Ascorbic Acid, the usual Vitamin C you see in advertisements does not really address the situation. If a person is sick or has low resistance, his body has a high level of acidity already. So taking in Ascorbic Acid increases body acidity and therefore the main purpose of Vitamin C to increase the body’s defenses won’t work for you. It is best to use Sodium Ascorbate; it is more bioavailable and alkaline (from minerals). As a biker, you now increase your body’s defenses making you enjoy riding much more.
You Need: Chia Seeds
In tropical countries like the Philippines, where riding is more a necessity than a passion, most of us ride in order to go to work. Even with environmental temperatures of 33-40°C, dehydration can occur. Chia Seeds (tiny, whitish/blackish/brownish tasteless seeds that look like sesame seeds) has Omega-3 fats and fibers ergo good for the heart and bowel movement, lowers cholesterol, stabilizes blood sugar, has minerals like manganese, phosphorous and calcium for good bones. Chia has good water absorbing properties; Chia in water turns into gel because it helps contain water. This is ideal for bikers who ride even when the weather is hot and humid. All the water you drink is kept in your cells and is used up by the body more than it is expelled through excessive perspiration.
You Need: Coffee and Barley
Too much caffeine makes me palpitate and makes me sick, preventing me from enjoying the ride. I found a product that fuses Coffee and Barley in a very tasty coffee drink. Barley is a natural grass that has more vitamins, more iron, increases cell metabolism, enhances bowel movement and enhances the travel of oxygen in the blood toward organs and cells, which of course improves organ bodily functions, especially brain activity for quicker reflexes when riding. And then couple all these with the anti-oxidant properties of coffee.
With all these, bikers can enjoy their rides without compromising health and go home to their families, safe.
