Although blogging for fun can be relatively easy, blogging for profit is not. If you are blogging for money, consistent effort is necessary in order to see results. Part of your consistent effort should include implementing effective blog marketing strategies that will help you build your audience. Once you realize that learning how to market your blog is integral to success, be prepared to try a plethora of strategies. Here are three that can help you:
1. A YouTube Video.
Entrepreneurs are using YouTube videos to get discovered all the time now, and you can market your blog this way as well. In short, it involves creating a video and having it placed on YouTube. Once this is done, anyone who subscribes to YouTube can access your advertisement. If you make a YouTube video, be sure that it looks professional. In her discussion of various blog marketing strategies that small businesses can implement, Veronica Clyde notes that this method is effective because you can reach out to people who prefer video to text.
2. Commit To A Message Board or Forum.
While you may be able to effectively market your blog to a few people by posting a random comment on a message board with a signature link and never returning to dialogue with group members, this is not the way to make the most out of message boards. In fact, you can actually irritate people by doing this because they will often perceive your message board or forum comments as spam. This actually happened to me when I joined a great Google + Forum called “Feminism.” Although I did actively participate in the community, I also spent a great deal of time simply including links to my work as a post. Of course, there is nothing wrong with including links to your work, but building relationships with people through the message board or forum that you place the links on is also very important. Once this is done, the individuals who see your links may be much more likely to click on them, read your content, and subsequently share it via Twitter, Facebook, and various other social media platforms.
3. Write A Great Bio.
Many writers know that creating a great bio helps them build a relationship with their readers. And many bloggers know that building a relationship with one’s readers can be integral to gaining repeat blog traffic. So why shouldn’t you market your blog with a great bio? You should. On my own personal blog, I have an About Me section that includes information that is directly pertinent to my life. By including this data in my blog, I enable my viewers to learn more about me and potentially increase the likelihood that we can connect on a personal level. Being able to connect with your readers through a personal bio is not the only reason that including one on your blog is important. Additionally, a potential business client may peruse your bio and see credentials that causes her or him to seriously consider hiring you for a project. Thus writing a great bio is a great way to market your blog for at least two reasons.
