The weather is getting colder as we are nearing Winter and Christmas. Lights are being hung up and Christmas music is playing on the radio. There are many new and exciting events to enjoy with family and friends this holiday season.
The Franklin Park Conservatory has many events beginning in November and continuing through December. There are opportunities for all ages to enjoy ranging from performances by various choirs and performers, to games and events for children. There is a holiday performance by the Columbus Children’s Choir on Saturday, November 23rd, 2013 at 2 PM. There is also a Family Fun Night on Wednesday, November 27th to enjoy a fun Thanksgiving dinner and a Celtic performance by The Ladies of Longford; on Wednesday, December 18th there is another Family Fun Night with a performance by The Royal Jokers, games for kids, and a performance by The Columbus Opera. In addition, other events include making ginger bread houses, decorating cookies and much more!
Another fun event for people of all ages to enjoy is the 14th Annual Fantasy of Lights Drive-Thru Light Show at Alum Creek. There are over 150 light displays to enjoy while driving through the neighborhood and at the end, complementary cookies and hot chocolate are offered at Santa’s House. The show is open from November 22nd to January 5th and the general admission rate for a car is $15, with partial proceeds benefiting Recreation Unlimited.
Another similar event is Wildlights, the annual light show at the Columbus Zoo. The event is open from November 19th to November 1st. In addition to the many light displays there is also music and entertainment for visitors to enjoy.
Another fun event is the Jingle Bell Run/Walk, a fundraiser for Arthritis. It takes place near Downtown Columbus near COSI, at 333 West Broad St. In addition to raising funds it is also a festive event to enjoy with family and friends. Join this unique event to support people struggling with arthritis.
Another fun event is the performance, Jim Brickman: The Magic of Christmas at the Ohio Theater. The talented performer and his special guest performers are sure to create a memorable and enjoyable Christmas experience filled with good music.Tickets are priced at only $33.
In addition, there are other holiday-themed performances at the Ohio Theater, Southern Theater on December 15th. There is a performance, Messiah Sing-Along, by ProMusica Chamber Orchestra: A Classical Holiday. It is an interactive Christmas-themed performance that is sure to be enjoyable.
The Nutcracker is another classic play performed at BalletMet in Columbus. It has been enjoyed for many years and continues to be a favorite and is sure to be cherished by all. Tickets can be bought at BalletMet for as low as $25.
These are all great events to enjoy with family and friends or even alone. Ranging from light shows to plays and fundraisers, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
