Comic-Con 2013 just wrapped up and it ended up being one of the most exciting in recent memory when it came to special announcements and surprises. After the convention, fans learned about a number of exciting projects coming up and comic book fans got a number of huge treats. From the sound of it, 2015 will be a year that movie geeks and comic book fans will remember for a long time. Here is a look at the biggest announcements for comic book movie fans from Comic-Con 2013.
Superman and Batman
The biggest news of the entire Comic-Con weekend saw Zack Snyder officially announce that he will follow of his “Man of Steel” with a Superman and Batman team-up movie. Originally, Warner Bros. was considering a “Justice League” movie to compete with “Avengers 2” in 2015, but smartly they chose to continue a slow build to that big team-up movie. The first step is introducing the two biggest DC Comics characters in history on the big screen for the first time. Zack Snyder will direct the movie, Henry Cavill will return as Superman, and a new Batman will be cast. Superman will fight, and probably end up teaming up with, Batman in 2015 and the comic book movie world may never be the same again.
Flash and Justice League
The “Justice League” movie was also touched upon at Comic-Con 2013. While the Superman and Batman movie will be the next DC Comics franchise to hit the big screen, there are still plans to bring all the heavy hitters from the DC Universe together on the big screen. The plans, according to the news over the weekend, will see Flash hit in 2016 and “Justice League” in 2017. What this means is that, by the time “Justice League” arrives, three of the members will be introduced and the other three of four can be introduced in the team-up movie.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Marvel wasn’t to be left out of the big Comic-Con 2013 movie news as they revealed the name of their 2015 Avengers movie. While naming a movie is not really something to normally get excited about, in Marvel it is. When they named the second Captain America movie “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” it told fans that Winter Soldier was coming as a bad guy. Well, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is the name of the Avengers’ 2015 movie, and that means Ultron is the bad guy, something very exciting for Marvel fans. This means that the Avengers biggest enemy will show up in this film, and fans can see something a little darker and more personal this time around.
