Devil’s food cake mix or recipe (plus ingredients to make it)

Most everyone loves a surprise and that’s what you’ll give to the people who eat your cookies and cream cupcakes. Never heard of them? Wow, you don’t know how many varieties of the desserts that you can make, nor how many different occasions for which they are suitable. Cookies and cream usually implies Oreo cookie crumbs will be used, and they can be, but you can use other cookies to make additional varieties of cookies and cream cupcakes. Hurry up and get the desserts made so that you can taste one before your guests arrive!
A devil’s food cake mix is perfect choice for black and white cupcakes. Mix up a devil’s food cake from a box or from a favorite recipe. Preheat the oven; check the box or recipe for time and temperature information. Put a cupcake wrapper in each compartment of a cupcake pan and fill each cup halfway with the devil’s food batter. You’ll make less mess, and have more control, if you dispense the batter from a clean or new ketchup, mustard, or syrup dispenser.
Bake the cupcakes and then remove them from the oven to cool. When they’re completely cool, use a wooden spoon handle, and push it into the middle of each cupcake. If needed, pull out some of the cake so that you have an opening in the middle of the cupcake. The hole should be fairly large so it might be necessary to push the spoon handle in a few times.
Crush up Oreo cookies, stir into a jar of marshmallow cream, and dispense the cream into the middle of each cupcake. Ice each cupcake with white frosting and heavily sprinkle each one with crushed Oreos. Or, set a single Oreo atop each cupcake. The black and white treats are ready to serve.
There are many different flavors of cookies and cream that you can create. Use blonde Oreos for a slightly different taste, or really change it up, and use duplex sandwich cookies, Nutter Butters, swirl cookies, or others.
The cookies and cream cupcakes, because of their color, look great as the desserts at a wedding, or even for Halloween (tint the marshmallow cream orange with food coloring). The cakes are so scrumptious that they can be served for a holiday, a birthday, an anniversary, a graduation, or just to your family after dinner. Try making even more versions by replacing the cookies with other goodies, such as nuts, chocolate chips, broken candy cane pieces, or other candies. You’ll have a new version of the cookies and cream cupcakes for every occasion!
