Cookies and Cream Wedding Desserts

by fat vox

Needed:
Glass jelly jars (with or without lids)
Cookies (your choice)
Whip cream (any)
Flavoring and/or food coloring

It’s so exciting to get everything ready for the wedding and reception. You get to go through catalogs, and look online, to find everything from the gown, to the table runners, to the glass jars. Oh, you don’t need glass jars? Well, if you want to make visually beautiful, luscious desserts – for very little money – you’ll need little glass jars. The desserts can be the flavors that you like, the colors that you want, and other details that you select. Cookies and cream desserts are custom made just for your wedding.

Small jelly jars are perfect for creating decadent desserts that are easy and inexpensive. The desserts look fabulous in the jelly jars that, generally, have designs cut into the glass; they’re quite beautiful.

Bake cookies to put in the jars; make sure the cookies are all smaller in diameter than the bottom of the jar. The cookies can be made from refrigerated cookie dough or from your favorite recipe. You can even purchase cookies at a bakery or a grocery store.

Let frozen whip cream thaw – or make the whip cream yourself – and get creative with it. Stir in a couple of drops of food coloring to tint the whip cream to the shade that you want. You can dye it blue, pink, purple, or another color, or you can leave it the color that it is. Whip cream now comes in white and chocolate so that gives you more options for creating the cookies and cream desserts. If you want, you can also flavor the whip cream, using drops of flavoring, like cherry, vanilla, lemon, or other flavors.

To assemble each dessert, layer cookies and whip cream in the jar. First, put in an inch or so of whip cream. Then, put a cookie on top. Do that again, and again, until you fill the jar from the bottom to the top. The very top should be whip cream. If the jar dessert will be served with a lid, stop at the lip, but if the lid won’t be given, fill the whip cream above the jar.

There are hundreds of different jar desserts that you can choose from for your wedding. Make dark chocolate cookies, and use vanilla whip cream, to create an elegant, black and white dessert. Or, layer chocolate whip cream with peanut butter cookies for a totally different type of treat. Think of your favorite cookie flavors, use them, and layer with your favorite flavor of whip cream. Your guests are going to be astounded!
