Here are some unique ways to redecorate on-a-dime, with easy 1-day projects. Try these simple ways to bring each room of your home or apartment back to life.
Beautify the Bathroom
No towel racks, or room to add much of anything? Try using an old wine rack, and roll up colorful towels (in place of the bottles) as shown in “On a Roll” from BHG.com. This is also a great way to beautify a guest bathroom.
Family Circle shows us “How to Decoupage a Tray Table” for an extra surface to display bath and pampering items. When spa-day is over, quickly pick up everything, and you’re able to fold-away the tray table.
Creative Kitchen Extras
Family Circle presents us with several brightly-painted wooden trays, as in “Tray Chic”, assigning flowers, candles, and other decorative pieces to each one. Keep these cheerful mobile-decor trays on kitchen table or counter, ready to move around to living room or dining tables, whenever a quick decorator touch is needed.
Then create a memo-board for family scheduling, by painting an odd kitchen wall with chalkboard paint, as shown in “Hang-Ups”. This could be a very useful item for homeschoolers, and makes a family-fun project.
Living Room Flair
Add flair to living-room walls by adding wallpaper, or fabric onto a focus wall, as shown in “The Hang of It” from Family Circle. Or stretch fabric over frames, to hang above sofa, and include matching throw pillows, as in “Give it a Whirl” from BHG.com.
Add drama to walls with oversized items you are unable to hang, similar to “Mirror, Mirror”, or add a faux-window to a small room with landscape artwork, as in this “Greenhouse Effect”. Make a sofa table by nailing together 2 pallets, painting, and adding wheels to create a coffee table with mobile book shelves, as in “Enliven a Sunroom”.
Delicious Dining Decor
Make curtains with complimentary table linens, from old sheet sets as these seen in “Dress Up the Dining Room”. Or as shown in “Craft a Custom Curtain”, for a more formal look.
Make an elegant focal wall in your dining area, by filling the wall over a buffet table with framed-fabric pictures, as shown in “Create an Artistic Assemblage”. Or for more whimsical prints, spray paint nature items, and then frame them like these “DIY Botanical Prints”.
Bigger, Better Bedrooms
Turn a “Small Bedroom” such as this one from Family Circle, into a “showcase” of colorful bedding. Adding a window or mirror over the headboard will open up the room, making it appear larger.
Make unique bedside tables by painting old furniture or folding trays (as shown above). Or make this “Suitcase Side Table”, which can be formed by stacking old suitcases on top of a footstool, from Better Homes & Gardens.
