Once upon a time, celebs would have been horrified by the thought of admitting to having work done, but now there’s a whole new generation of young stars who are seemingly using their plastic surgery admissions to get a little attention.
Teen bride Courtney Stodden has recently joined this growing group by getting breast implants. According to E! Online, the 18-year-old said this about her new body: “My results are looking incredible and very sexy. Looking forward to slipping into a bikini. . .or out of it!”
The blonde tabloid fodder with a love of short skirts and tight shirts first found fame by marrying actor Doug Hutchison when she was 16 and he was 51. She prolonged her time in the spotlight by hitting the talk show circuit and appearing on the VH1 reality show “Couples Therapy,” but one of her most memorable TV moments actually involved the teen bride boasting about her all-natural curves. In 2011, Courtney was so desperate to prove that she was implant-free that she let a doctor perform an ultrasound on her breasts during her appearance on “Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers.”
It’s surprising that Courtney felt the need to go under the knife since there was absolutely nothing wrong with her body, and at first it might seem even more surprising that she fessed up to getting breast implants since she once went out of her way to prove that she didn’t have any silicone in her body. However, Stodden probably saw her plastic surgery reveal as a way to get publicity, and she’s not alone when it comes to this line of thinking.
In 2009, “The Hills” star Heidi Montag made headlines by getting ten plastic surgery procedures in one day. She got tons of attention for having so much work done at the young age of 23, but Heidi later admitted that she regretted her decision. She told Access Hollywood, “I would never do it again and I never recommend it for anyone.”
It will be hard for any young celeb to ever top Heidi’s impressive list of procedures, which included ear reshaping, an eyebrow lift, a chin reduction, a nose job, and DDD implants. However, 22-year-old “Teen Mom” star Farrah Abraham is already halfway there. In 2011, the then-20-year-old decided to get breast implants because her “boobs went away” after having a baby. Farrah later decided that her face needed tweaking, so she spent $16,000 on a nose job and a chin implant last year. However, she still wasn’t satisfied — she recently revealed that she got a second boob job, boosting her bust size from a C to a D (she was originally an A-cup). She explained her decision to In Touch by saying, “I look more natural. I want to look my best. And I’m looking amazing.” How sad is it that Farrah thinks that big breast implants look natural? She must have studied way too many adult movies before making her own sex tape.
Then there’s 27-year-old Amanda Bynes, a troubled former child star who doesn’t think that her nose is “All That.” In May, Amanda tweeted that she had surgery on her nose to remove the “webbing” between her eyes, and she begged tabloids to quit using older pictures of her because she thinks that she looks prettier with her reshaped schnozzle. However, after seeing her mugshot photo back in June, she tweeted that she was going under the knife a second time. And as omg! recently reported, she’s ready for another round of surgery. Amanda tweeted this on Monday: “I’m in between nose surgeries! My eyes are black and blue because my nose is broken! I can’t wait for my nose to be done! I’ll share pics!:)” Let’s just hope she doesn’t look like Michael Jackson when she finally shares the results of all that alleged work.
So do you think that it’s refreshing that some celebs are fessing up to going under the knife, or is it disturbing that these young stars are turning to surgery to stay in the spotlight and boost their self esteem?
