Get ready for another exciting season of “Dancing with the Stars,” as they revealed on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Wednesday, a cast of 12 celebrities. They range from the usual fare of reality TV stars to the NFL to arts and entertainment. For the first time in the show’s history someone comes from a science background. This season will be completely different, since it will eliminate the second night program or the results show. Thankfully that will get rid of a lot of unnecessary filler. Let’s get further acquainted with each member of Season 17.
Amber Riley – The “Glee” star recently dealt with the loss of fellow castmate Corey Monteith. She is paired with last year champion Derek Hough. Most likely Amber and Derek will dedicate a dance to Corey (much like Jennifer Grey did for Patrick Swayze).
Corbin Bleu – It wouldn’t be complete if there wasn’t a Disney star. He’s the star of “High School Musical” film series and on Broadway.
Christina Milian – She was the social media commentator on NBC’s “The Voice.”
Keyshawn Johnson – Once again it wouldn’t be “Dancing with the Stars” if there wasn’t at least one athlete, and especially one from the NFL. Just about every season the NFL stars always place in the top five.
Bill Nye – This “Science Guy” will make everyone think in scientific terms. Len, Bruno, and Carrie Ann better brush up on their science with detailed and specific critiques when judging him and his partner.
Bill Engvall – Comedians are a lot of fun on the show. This country comic burns it up on CMT.
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi – If you haven’t heard of this mega-reality star from the hit series “Jersey Shore,” you’ve been living under a rock. She is the second star from the MTV series to appear on “Dancing with the Stars.” The Situation was on during the fall of 2010.
Jack Osbourne – Speaking of reality stars and having a relative or castmate appear previously, he first appeared with his family in the reality series “The Osbournes.” Currently he is the West Coast correspondent on the Fuse News, a live music news program.
Valerie Harper – Baby boomers will fondly remember her as Rhoda from “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” In 2010 she appeared on Broadway in “Looped,” and was nominated for a Tony award.
Leah Remini – The former sitcom star of “The King of Queen.” Remini recently made news with cutting ties from the Church of Scientology.
Brant Daughtery – Currently starring in the hit series on Lifetime “Army Wives”, he’s best known for his role in “Pretty Little Liars.”
Elizabeth Berkley Lauren – Her starring role in the cult classic film “Showgirls” may give her an excellent edge, a la former DWTS champion, Jennifer Grey. She now takes on her married surname. Berkley is married to fashion designer/artist Greg Lauren.
Be sure to tune in for the season premiere on Monday, September 16 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
