Days Inn & Suites Savannah Gateway I-95 is a hotel that we have stayed in numerous times and will continue to stay there whenever we are in the area. I am not a loyal customer to just any hotel; I am very picky about accomodations so when I say that no other hotel in the area will do, I mean this hotel meets all my criteria for a great stay and I cannot imagine another hotel matching it! We have family friends in the area and go as often as possible to see them. The only drawback about this hotel is that it is 15 minutes away from them! But I can deal with the distance for all of the amenities offered at this location. Our first time staying there was when my daughter was an infant, the hotel provided a crib free of charge and it was waiting in our room each time when we arrived. We have stayed in a couple of other hotels in the area and this is the only one we have returned to!
The first thing that I love about Days Inn & Suites Savannah Gateway I-95 is its appearance. I may never get to vacation in Mexico, but I feel that I am at this hotel! The bright orange and cream-colored stucco exterior with green trim accents make this hotel appear to be in a desert climate on a vacation spot. The interior follows this theme with mainly cream stucco with orange accents. This is not an area where every other house or business is made of stucco; this is the only building that I have seen in the area like that. Once we drove up under the canopy and checked in, parking around the back put us close to the back entrance where we only had to walk a short distance past a bird water feeder and garden to our room by the swimming pool. Each time I have asked for this same room and only been disappointed once when it was not available. The room that I love is on the bottom floor (even though they have an elevator and stairs going up, I like to be near the pool to take our pool toys more easily), and steps from the fenced-in pool. The fence locks behind you so no children can wander into the pool.
Our room at Days Inn & Suites Savannah Gateway I-95 had a jacuzzi, but there is also a jacuzzi by the indoor pool too. A king-sized bed was in the middle of the large room with a table and chairs by the window. Heavy drapes kept out light so the room was dark at night time and we heard no noises outside of our room. The bathroom and Jacuzzi were in a separate room with a locking door while the sink and mirror were not. The air conditioning worked perfectly. A very comfortable room with cable television that had many, many channels! The bed was very comfortable and I slept wonderfully there. There was plenty of soap, shampoo, and conditioner, and more available when needed. A hair dryer was connected to the wall. We could call out on the phone making free local calls which is convenient and cost-effective when you know so many people in the area! Why waste cell phone minutes and battery time? Plenty of space to hang clothing up and drawer space under the television set. We have had ten friends over, including a bunch of kids and have been very comfortable–not for the whole stay, just for the swimming!
Each morning a huge breakfast was ready and set-up in a cozy, warm dining room with many tables and chairs. Milk, cheerios, bagels, cream cheese, pastries, coffee, juice, and cinnamon rolls are a few of what was on hand. Check-in was a breeze every time taking little time with friendly staff. Each time we went the staff was different but all were wonderful to us. Extra towels were readily delivered to our room when we had friends over to swim. The indoor pool was a luxury and rarely was filled with people. Only once did we go at a busy time (most of the time we traveled in the fall and winter months) and the pool was crammed full of college students.
I found out the hard way that the pool is only heated in the winter and fall months at Days Inn & Suites Savannah Gateway I-95 as once we went in late summer and the water was cool. Not good with a small baby who gets chilled quickly. The pool is located in the center of all the rooms, in a very large airy room. We have spent many happy hours floating the day away in this large pool! What a treat to walk out of our room and go steps away to a warm heated pool! It is one of my favorite places to be. Actually this hotel de-stresses me each time I visit. The wake-up calls made sure we were up early to begin our day.
Once we were disappointed by having to stay in a 2nd floor room at Days Inn & Suites Savannah Gateway I-95. That did not end our disappointment….the Jacuzzi and bathroom area were not separate from the room really. There was a window (of all things!) so anyone in the room could see into the Jacuzzi and bathroom area. I do not know about you but I do not want people to see me bathe, change clothes, or urinate! This made me very uncomfortable. There were snack and ice machines located in the vestibule close to our room. Also microwaves and fridges in every room–really nice when you have an infant on formula that needs to be heated up! Spacious parking for the largest vehicles. Each day the room was cleaned and freshened up nicely. A free newspaper is available.
Items available at Days Inn & Suites Savannah Gateway I-95 but we have not needed: safe, guest laundry, ironing board and iron, handicap facilities, meeting facilities, business center, arcade in a room by the pool, high speed internet access, and a fitness center in a room by the pool. No pets are allowed; this must have been changed as I saw a guest with her little dog once. Smoking and nonsmoking rooms are available. This hotel is in walking distance of Shoney’s, Hardees, Cracker Barrel, and others. About 15 minutes away from Savannah downtown area. A credit or debit card is required for reservations over the phone ; and you should make one as they fill up in spring and summer months. The website states that you may be charged excess charges but the only thing we were ever charged above what was quoted was for tax. There is a points system to add up to a free hotel night stay, but the amount of time we have stayed in this hotel, we have never been able to accumulate enough points for it! I was hoping to use it on the time we did a week stay. They do have special offers at times. Each time we paid about $100 per night, except for the time we spent a week there and we got a different rate as regular customers.
You cannot go wrong with Days Inn & Suites Savannah Gateway I-95. A clean, friendly vacation resort-style of hotel room, an indoor heated pool, in-room Jacuzzi, fridge, microwave, free breakfast, wake-up call, comfy bed, cable television, elevator, free crib for use at hotel, extra towels for your friends…what more can you ask of a hotel? I would only change all rooms to be like our favorite one…so none have windows for a view of the Jacuzzi in the room!
