New Years Eve is a time to go all out with your outfit, makeup and nails. Even though I’m not going to a big New Year’s Eve party, my nails are still going to look the part. Bright colors, festive details and, of course, glitter are must have elements for New Year’s Eve manicure. This year consider one of these festive nail designs to help you ring in the New Year.
Fuchsia with Gold Tips
Why not welcome the New Year with Pantone’s Color of the year, radiant orchid? Fuchsia is one of the shades in the radiant orchid family. First paint your nails with a basecoat. Then, apply two coats of a fuchsia polish. I like Deborah Lippman’s Makin’ Whoopee. After allowing the fuchsia polish to dry, I applied gold glitter polish to the tips of my nails. I used Butter London’s West End Wonderland. Keep your nails looking nice all night long with a top coat.
Blue-Grey with Silver Polka Dots
Let some silver glitter polka dots dress up neutral nails. First I applied a base coat and then a blue grey polish. I used Essie’s Parka Perfect. Then, I allowed the polish to dry. Next, I took some silver glitter polish and placed a little on a piece of cardboard. Then, I put the round end of a bobby pin into my polish. Make sure it coats the bottom of the bobby pin well. Then, lightly dab your bobby pin onto your nail. Repeat this process until you have the desired amount of polka dots. Finish with a top coat.
Red with Confetti Glitter
Take a classic red manicure up a notch with some festive multicolored glitter. After applying a clear base, I applied two coats of Deborah Lippman’s The Lady is a Tramp. Let it dry thoroughly. Then I put on Wet and Wild’s Party of Five Glitters. You may need to use two coats for extra glitter. This one is great for Christmas too.
A New Year’s Message
It’s fun to write a message on your nails. I like to write with fine tipped permanent markers. First I applied a clear base coat. Then, I applied a clear polish with red, green and silver glitter to the top 25 percent of the nail. After letting the polish dry, I took a blue fine tipped permanent marker and wrote New Year on it. You could also write 2014, Happy New Year’s or another festive message.
This year, when the clock strikes midnight, make sure your nails are ready to party.
