Demi Lovato has a ton of “Lovatics” who would do anything for their favorite performer. However, the actress and singer recently revealed that she found out the hard way that she doesn’t have many real friends.
“A couple of months before I went to rehab, I had a birthday party and there were a couple of hundred people there. It was full of people who I considered my closest friends,” she told U.K. magazineCompany. “When I turned my phone on after being in rehab for three months, I expected lots of text messages and phone calls.”
In reality? She only had four texts waiting.
“That was a wake up call,” she added.
Among her true friends? Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez.
“Now I have people who, if I break my leg in the middle of the night, they’ll come to the hospital with me,” she added. “Or they’ll answer the phone at 4 a.m. if I need them.”
The no-friend thing seems to be common among celebrities. We can’t say we blame them: It has to be difficult telling who is there as a friend and who is there just because of the fame.
Men everywhere might fantasize about Angelina Jolie, but in real life the actress and mom of six toldMarie Claire U.K. that she doesn’t have a lot of friends.
The only person she really considers a friend? Her longtime boyfriend and fiance, Brad Pitt.
“I don’t have a lot of friends to talk to. He is really the only person I talk to,” she said.
“I’ll talk to my family. I talk to Brad; he wants to know as much as he can about these issues and every trip,” she added, referring to her trips to war-torn countries as the United Nations’ goodwill ambassador.
Sean “Diddy” Combs
Hip hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs might roll with a huge entourage, but they must be on the payroll because he claims to have no friends.
“I really don’t have a lot of friends. It’s not like nobody wants to be my friend. I don’t have friends because I work so much, and because I work so much, I’m not a good friend,” he said in 2010. “You need a friend to be there for you.”
At least he’s honest about being a crappy pal.
Reality star and new porn star Farrah Abraham is another public figure who doesn’t have a lot of friends.
“I really can’t find one honest, great person here to be friends with,” she told US Weekly in 2012. “I’d rather not deal with all the drama and fakeness of people trying to claw at me. I do have a couple of amazing friends in New York, and the girls on [‘Teen Mom’]. Those are my close friends.”
We know there’s one person who definitely isn’t her friend: Her porn tape co-star, James Deen.
