There are far too many scams on the Internet pertaining to virtual office employment. One of this author’s primary goals is to expose the scams on the Internet, related to working from home, via the Work Home Union website. It’s important to know that you do not, and should not, pay one dime to work from home.
Home based customer, sales, and tech support agents have become a powerful solution in the IT world. Companies that do not utilize this concept are either testing the home based solution, or carefully watching those who use the model. There is a different demographic in the IT workforce. The right fit of a telecommuting job is centered around flexibility and accommodation.
With outsourcing and layoffs steadily on the rise, virtual office opportunities are becoming the jobs of the present and the future. There are a plethora of jobs on the Internet that are free to apply and free to work.
Picture this … you’re headed to the beach. Got your beach umbrella, a blanket, some snacks, maybe a little wine, and your favorite tunes all set to go. You reach your favorite spot on the beach; you’re early, the beach is not crowded at all. Why? Because most of the other poor souls are at work. When you hit the beach, put up your umbrella, put your headphones and shades on, guess what? You’re at work too! No boss, no one looking over your shoulder, no annoying co-workers.
You actually have co-workers, but they are in their spot, somewhere in Timbukoto, Maine, and you’re in your spot. If you want or need to communicate with online associates, you send an instant message or email. You can even video conference and talk if you’d like. The video conferencing is cool because your “co-workers” will see the backdrop of the Pacific, while you might see a cluttered home office or some other cramped space on the other end. And who knows, they may be working from their balcony or deck while corresponding with you. Either way, all the participants on the conference call or WebEx meeting, are a part of the new generation of virtual office independent contractors.
Hopefully you see where I’m going with this: the beauty of working Virtual Office is amazing to say the least. For example, while I’m putting together this Lens (which will create residual income), I’m listening to the sounds of John Legend, Richard Elliot, Maysa, Usher, Tamia, Maze, Norman Brown, Kem, Charlie Wilson, Boney James, Jay Sean, Monica, and Tupac! Quite a versatile selection, don’t cha think?
This is my nirvana. I am at peace, doing something I love to do, getting paid and creating residual income. I’m currently not at home, or at the beach. I’m writing this article from Buffalo Wild Wings and watching the Oakland Raiders in their hey-day. What’s on one of the big screen at this very moment is when the Raiders dominated the Redskins in the 1983 Super Bowl.
Five Ways to Make Money while Sleeping
Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Steve Jobs, Michael S. Dell, Brian L. Roberts, Warren Buffett, Larry Ellison, Christy, Jim, and Alice Walton, Michael Bloomburg, Oprah Winfrey, and several thousand others, make tons of money while they are sleeping. There’s no reason why we can’t. Maybe not on the same scale but any money earned while you’re at rest is better than none at all.
- Write Quality Articles
Choose three of the top writing sites and start writing. Set a goal to write 300 articles in 6 months. This is not as difficult as it sounds because if you write 1 to 2 articles per day (averages out to about 1.67 articles daily) you will have reached your goal. Published articles on the web create residual income.

- Contextual Advertising
Like affiliate advertising, you’ll need a blog or website, to benefit from contextual advertising. The key to success is getting traffic to your site. The more traffic you have the more money you can make. Again, this is money you make overnight.
Open an E-Trade or Scottrade account and start investing. Start out small and work your way up. Investing on and off the Internet is more than finding the right stock tips, investing entails an investment of time. Time to write your articles; time to research stocks and trends; time to research SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and ways to best promote your articles. Creating residual income on or offline will take work.
- Turn your Personal Computer into a Money Machine
See your desktop and laptop as a “Money Machine.” In other words, when you sit in from of your PC it’s all about making money; it’s all about creating residual income. Put the chatting, dating sites, and online games on the back-burner and focus on generating wealth. When you’re making $1k to $3k every-other-day or so, then you can play a game here and there. By that time however, you will only want to play the game of generating residual income.
The Internet is here to stay. The government is trying to regulate it but that’s not going to happen in this century. Furthermore, unless you’re making in the high 6-figure range, and you’re not doing anything illegal on the web, you really don’t need to concern yourself with outside entities trying to commandeer your cheddar.
The World Wide Web has changed the way people communicate, collaborate, and correspond electronically. Today there are a plethora of virtual offices, virtual meetings, and virtual co-workers. Instead of co-workers working in the same office, on the same floor, in the same building, you can now have co-workers residing in different states across the U.S., and across the globe.
Five reasons that make telecommuting more attractive:
- No more commuting: Telecommuting means no more commuting. Your commute will be from the bedroom, to the bathroom (gotten freshen up), and on to your state-of-the-art home office.

Growing an Online Business
Do your research. It’s extremely important to do your homework before and during the life of your business. Research all areas of your enterprise, primarily “Target Audience,” “Competition,” “Historical Data,” and “Investment Amount” (which includes time and money).
Marketing Strategy is very crucial to the success of your business. With the explosion of the Internet there’s no need to spend thousands of dollars on marketing. There are companies on the web that will market and promote your business, but they charge exorbitant fees. This is something you can do for yourself. If you choose self-marketing, Time will be your biggest investment.
Facebook and Twitter are all you need to get the Social Networking ball rolling. These two social media giants provide an incredible, free opportunity to promote a legitimate business. Create a page for your business on Facebook and Twitter. Add “follow” or “like” links from your website to your pages and then e-mail all your contacts and ask them to become followers.
If you don’t already have a website, start one. There are plenty of free, inexpensive, do-it-yourself sites available so there’s no need to spend hundreds of dollars annually. You also need a blog which is free. Bottom line, a blog without a website makes your business look illegitimate and cheap.
Publishing an e-Book about your business is a lot easier than you would think. An electronic book can simply be a collection of articles you wrote pertaining to your line of work. Tie the articles together via PDF documents. Once completed, create a link to your e-book from your website or blog. The e-book should be free of charge, or you can sell it for a nominal fee, $5 or less. If you overprice the e-Book, very few will purchase it. Remember, the reason you’re putting it together is to promote your business so it’s really best to give it away.
Taxes for the Independent Contractor
When you work as an Independent Contractor you are actually an independent business person; in other words, you’re operating your own business. Therefore, you can file your taxes as a corporation, incorporated, or sole proprietorship.
There are certain expenses related to your online business, such as web hosting charges or shopping cart software, that can be deducted from your total income. This lowers the net income you pay on federal, state and sometimes local tax.
Be careful what you claim because claiming too many or unnecessary deductions can get you in trouble with the Internal Revenue Service.
A home office deduction is generally easier for self-employed individuals to claim. If you meet all the requirements to claim a home office, some of the expenses you can deduct include a portion of your real estate taxes, deductible mortgage interest, rent, utilities, insurance, depreciation, painting and repairs. The total amount you can deduct depends on the percentage of your home used for business.
Self-employed taxpayers will need Form 8829 (Expenses for Business Use of Your Home) to figure the home office deduction; the amount would be reported on Schedule C of your tax form.
