Dracula Cupcakes with Party Favor

by fat vox

What you’ll need:
Cake mix
Frosting in choices of colors
Red gel frosting
Candy eyes or frosting (your choice of eye color + black gel frosting)
Plastic fangs

You might not know this but you’re expecting many vampires for your child’s Halloween party. When you make Dracula cupcakes, you give every child a Halloween treat, a party favor, and a whole lot of fun. You’ve surely seen cakes and cupcakes with removable parts but none like the Dracula cupcake. It’s an individual cake, that looks like a vampire, and that has fangs made right into the cake. Each child will only eat one cupcake and then he’ll be out playing with the fangs.

Dracula cupcakes look like funny vampires when you give them teeth made of novelty plastic fangs. The cupcakes can be any flavor/color that you want, but chocolate is a good choice when creating the dark and disturbing look of a vampire. Make the cupcakes from your own favorite recipe or from a box mix. Avoid a cake mix that has large nuts or fruit pieces. After baking the cupcakes allow them to cool completely.

Frost the cupcakes and be generous with the icing. Again, chocolate will give you a great look for the vampires. Don’t make an effort to smooth the frosting flat; you can create a more appropriate look for the vampire if the frosting goes every which way. With all of the cupcakes frosted you can move on to the easy design of each face and the insertion of the fang party favor.

Candy eyes make the creation of the face really easy to do. You can buy candy eyes – frosting eyes – at a place that sells specialty baking items; they’re not at all expensive. Or, just tint some white frosting and put it in a plastic bag. Pipe a frosting dot onto each eye area and then put a black frosting dot on each one.

At the mouth area, push a knife in, and cut a small slit in the cupcake. Then, take a pair of the plastic fangs, hold them closed at the opening, and push the hinge area into the slit in the cupcake. The fangs will open slightly as the tension spreads the cake a bit. Finish the look of the mouth by using red gel. Squirt some across the fangs, and around them – on the frosting.

The Dracula cupcakes can also be monster or jack-o-lantern cupcakes, with green or orange frosting, and the plastic fangs. No matter what kind of cupcakes you bake, they’ll grab attention at the Halloween party, and they’ll please every child there – and some adults!
