Some people see conjoined events and say “coincidence.” I say there are no coincidences in life. Life has a rhythm, meaning, and mysteries which, if we pay attention, are revealed to us. The Bible calls the gift of sight beyond the present “discernment.”
Worry can make us old before our time. I used to worry more than I do now. I have seen promises in my dreams, and they have eased my worries. It was an animal spirit dream that eased my worries about finances. I have had dreams where animal spirit guides have communicated with me some of these mysteries, revealing answers to me. Often for me, my spirit guide is a cat, but in this particular dream, it was a bird, a sparrow.
I dreamed once more that I had moved to California, and I opened the closed door to the all-white tiled bathroom in my newly rented apartment. The place had been vacant for 30 days. I saw a sparrow roosting on the light fixture above the sink. I asked the sparrow, “How have you lived in here for this month with no food and water?”
The sparrow tipped his head down, and I looked where his beak pointed. The stopper was in the basin, and the sink basin was half full of water. I looked carefully at the beak of the bird, and I saw a fragment of something orange at the edge of his beak. I looked up at the high ceiling above the bird, and the ceiling was filled with monarch butterflies, and I understood the bird had both food and drink and was always cared for, even in this condition of adversity.
I understood the message I was given in this dream:
The dream was a living diorama of the verse in the Bible where God tells us we should not worry about tomorrow, because he knows if a single hair of our head falls, just as God knows the falling of a sparrow. If God could provide for this sparrow, he would also provide for me. The dream was a reminder of that verse. Some would call that a coincidence, something from my subconscious mind. Whatever it is called, it was a comfort to me that has stayed with me for more than a dozen years. I trust my animal spirits because I believe they are messengers.
Being open to the messages around us:
One result is that I have adorned my bedroom with bird statuary, and those birds remind me of this promise. I am cared for, protected, and loved. The universe is open to us each day, and messages, comfort, warnings, and love surround us, if we are open to receive them. Mine come in sudden revelations, in dreams, from animal guides, from the words of children and sometimes from lunatics. What does the universe reveal to those willing to accept those revelations? Wait for the epiphany. Messages are all around us. Be willing to hear them and understand.
