Drifting Away

by fat vox

Since the beginning of time the human species has longed to find meaning in life. Why are we here? What does it all mean? I personally have stopped asking those questions because if the great thinkers of our past were not capable of answering them what chance do I have.

It’s no secret that the human mind is an extremely powerful thing. People have been able to accomplish amazing feats and overcome seemingly impossible circumstances with the aid of their mind. I believe the mind is so powerful even that it can and does ease its possessor off into his/her final rest.

It is my belief that all of the tales of “seeing the light” or the vision of a long lost family member greeting those who have a near death or do indeed die and come back is a manifestation provided to them by their own personal God…Their mind.

The brain or mind is not only the most powerful of the organs within our bodies but the most vital. The brain controls movement, pain, pleasure and the everyday functions that keep us alive.

I admittedly am not a religious person I feel that organized religion has many things to offer the world in the way of morality and the treatment of one another, however in much the same way it teaches intolerance and linear thinking that leads to hatred and war everyday in the world.

All you have to do is watch the news or read the front page of any internet browser to see the carnage and death carried out in the name of this God or that.

What I am proposing is that God does indeed live in all of us and that God is our minds. Everything we take for granted in this world every invention every book you have ever loved every movie you have ever quoted lines from have come from the mind of a human being. The medicines and procedures we use to heal and care for each other with have all come from the minds of people just like you and I.

I realize that my way of thinking does not provide what traditional followers of religion are looking for which is an afterlife. Isn’t the “promise” of eternal life the major motivating factor for giving the church money or treating people with love and respect? In this aspect I am very thankful for organized religion it has helped keep a lid on what could be a powder keg of devious or damaging behavior since it was invented.

The interchange is the minds way of letting go of life and easing you into nothingness. It can be anything you want it to be. It can be you meeting your God at the pearly gates or getting one last kiss from a lover who left this world too early.

I am in no way trying to get anyone to join my way of thinking I’m just sharing with you what I believe. I hope whatever you believe helps you through your day-to-day life and to treat everyone with love that you encounter. If you get nothing else from this editorial I hope it has forced you to think and use that God in your head.
