There are unusual places for people to work in the world. For Judy and Sam they are on a world of there- own. The reason is because they face risks that normally everyday people may not have to think about. Judy and Sam will be the first to enter a place to work no other human being has been before.
Judy is woken up by the sound of her alarm clock. She looks at it and sees it is ten of six in the morning. Judy gets up and looks out-side though her room window. The thermometer reads 70 degrees and the sun already looks like it is at high noon. The live weather feed comes up and it reads 80 percent chance of dust storms starting at 20-30 miles per hour (MPH) winds that could get up to 200. Judy watches the dust dance with the wind as sweat already begins to run down her face. She watches all this with the face of some-one who knows it is going to be a long day. She walks out of her one person room and is greeted by Sam her co-worker. He says, to her, “the dust storms here make dust storms back home, look like a mild windy day.”, as he is looking out-side the window of their habitat.
He continues with, “the readings show we only have a few hours today to get the work done before the dust storm gets bad. It looks to be a well-deserved short day after the last few all day jobs.” Both Sam and Judy are getting ready for the day’s work by putting on their work suits. Judy speaks up with, “just think in a year or two the word is that we only will have to wear these suits during a dust storm.” Sam response with, “think so? It is still hard to breathe in this atmosphere. Not sure when that problem will be solved let.” As Judy and Sam step out from their work house they are greeted by the suns heart and the dust dancing around with the wind. The land is bright red desert for miles. The only green is from special biological grown grass, around the perimeter of the habitat.
Sam asks Judy, “ever feel like Columbus discovering a new world out here?” Judy response is, “no. Columbus discovered green flush forests and sky blue water falls and rives. This place is nothing but, miles and miles of barren waste land. Not let convents that life could have ever survived out here long term. Columbus and his men knew they were not alone. Were both completely a long out here, until more people come to create a settlement.” After that last conversation Sam and Judy are both silent for some-time. Sam listens to Judy and response with, “You’re both right and wrong. Its correct to think that were, not going to be alone but, the question to asks Columbus is, what life did they expect encounter? Encountering life doesn’t necessary mean being around other human beings and, Columbus also took a second trip.” Judy pause for a moment the responded with “good points.”
She continued with, “this is a new world for human kind and, we are the first ship to land on it. We just haven’t encountered what, has been expected? We are the beginning of a new world.” Sam nods her head up and down in agreement before responding with, “yes it is and, will be human kind’s new journey. We’re making history all over again. Just have to wait for more. If we build it, they will come.” She says with laughter. After her last comment, Judy pause for a minute then asks,” heard that line before, where is it from?” Sam response to Judy with, “an old movie can remember the name of it but, know it has something to do with baseball.” Judy end the conversation with, “better get our work day started so, we can get back to the habitat in time. Mar’s dust storms get really bad.”
Need a place to stay just, look for the red light that reads hotel vacancy, just off the turn of our ninth planet of the milk way solar system. Among the dusty wind storms of mars to individuals start the process of colonization. It’s an odd job in a place where there is a shortage of human beings.
