Easy and Delicious Bars Made with Confetti Cake Mix

by fat vox

Cake mix does not have to be used to bake cakes. On the contrary, it is the basis of many very easy and delicious desserts from cookies to rich and chewy bars. Confetti varieties are especially appealing and tasty. Most are rich and flavorful, and the colorful specks add an enticing appearance, especially when celebrating birthdays, holidays and more. Try an easy and delicious recipe for bars made with confetti cake mix, and create simply frosted treats for any occasion. The recipe calls for just 3 simple ingredients, and it could not be any easier to make, bake and decorate.

Necessary Ingredients and Supplies

For easy and delicious confetti cake bars you will need 2 large eggs, 1/3 cup of vegetable oil and a confetti cake mix of your choice. You will also need an 8 ½ by 11-inch baking pan, a mixing bowl, a sturdy spoon and a container of ready-made frosting. Sprinkles and colored sugar crystals are optional.

Procedure

Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Combine the confetti cake mix with the eggs and vegetable oil. Mix it by hand until the dry lumps are broken up and the ingredients are thoroughly blended. The batter will be very stiff.

Next, thoroughly grease the baking pan before adding the batter. It will have to be patted into the pan by hand. Make sure it is evenly filled in, especially around the edges.

Bake the bars for approximately 17 minutes or until a wooden toothpick comes out clean. The edges should be light golden brown. The center may sink, but it will provide the ideal indentation for frosting and optional decorations. The bars should be completely cool before frosting and decorating.

Creative Decorating Ideas

Easy cake mix confetti bars can be decorated with colored sugar and shaped sprinkles or jimmies. For a spring or summer confetti cake, add flower or butterfly-shaped sprinkles that are similar to those pictured. Pink and green tinted sugar was also used to decorate the bars.

If you want to add text without piping frosting through a bag, use licorice whips. They are available in just about every color of the rainbow, and they can be easily cut, curved and formed into letters. You can also create pretty floral swirls, green stems and leaves. They will hold their shape when pressed into the frosting.

In any case, confetti cake mix bars are good with or without frosting and decorations. They are a fantastic alternative to bake-and-slice bars or cookies, and they are much more decadent than cake. Also, any cake mix flavor can be used instead of the confetti variety. After trying this easy recipe, you will never buy ready-made bars or bother with extensive recipes ever again.
