Wall sculptures can cost hundreds of dollars, especially handmade varieties that are unique and highly stylish. You do not have to spend a small fortune to embellish your walls with eye-catching works of art, and you do not have to be an artist. It is possible to use ordinary items to create impressive décor, and for far less than anything from a store. Create these fast and easy DIY wall sculptures when decorating your home, and display one-of-a-kind pieces that will beautifully enhance your home.
Spray Paint Dead Branches in Silver or Gold
One of the simplest DIY wall sculptures is also the most beautiful and striking. Look for one or two dead branches with plenty of offshoots. Brush away any dirt, debris or loose bark, and make sure that the branches are fully dry. Spray paint them in silver or gold. If you want a glossy look, give them a coat of clear acrylic spray after the paint is fully dry. Hang your new sculptures in a grouping, or make them part of an arrangement by hanging them around an existing work of art.
Combine Natural Wood Circles to Create Rustic DIY Wall Sculptures
If you have a power saw, a large dead limb and wood glue, you have all that you need to create wall sculptures with rustic flair. Begin by trimming the branches from the limb. Cut it into circles of equal height while leaving the bark in place. Cover your work area with plastic or newspaper, and begin gluing the sides of the wood discs together using Gorilla brand wood glue or something equally as strong. Make one giant work of art or create two or more DIY wall sculptures. Although they are rustic because they are made with raw wood, they are modern and highly unique by design.
Spray Paint Foam Balls to Create a Huge Swirl
Foam balls are good for more than just making floral orbs and faux topiaries. For easy DIY sculptures, spray paint the balls and arrange them on a wall to create swirls. Make one giant swirl as a focal point, or arrange two or more sculptures to create a design with multiple sections. For easy mess-free spraying, place each ball on a broomstick with a narrow nail hammered into the end. Stick the pole into the ground and spray them one by one. As each one dries to the touch, move onto the next. Use long narrow nails to attach the foam ball design(s) to a wall, or opt for small peel-and-stick Velcro brand squares. Your unique DIY wall sculptures will look phenomenal, and they will cost far less than anything available in stores.
