We all know and love the infamous Christmas sweater. You know, the one with the reindeer, the gaudy Christmas trees, with the brilliantly red and green hued stockings plastered on the front. These sweaters are fun and fabulous, but you can look just as festive without donning such jovial apparel. Check out a few of these fashionable looks to see if one fits your Christmas fancy. Whether it’s a Christmas Eve celebration, a New Year’s Day brunch, or anything fun in between, you can look fashionable and festive without relying on your favorite sweater.
The LBD. If formal and sophisticated suits your taste, you will never go wrong with a Little Black Dress. You won’t be off track if you wear last year’s black maxi or asymmetrical dress. But for the most up-to-the minute class, try a soft (think cashmere) fabric, with long length, ¾ sleeves, and a cowl neckline. For the most versatility – formal or casual, try a plain black sleeveless sheath. Add a wrap and strappy sandals to make it formal, or a sparkly gold cardigan and black flats with bold accents to keep it cool and casual.
A sparkly top. A pair of skinny jeans, high heels, and a sparkly tunic never go out of style for a night of shopping or a casual soirée. Add a ¾ sleeve blazer for class or a swingy sweater for style. Add a super-soft moto jacket to add a little edge to your look.
Flirty frocks. Dresses are making a great comeback, so don’t be afraid to try a few. Wrap dresses are universally flattering, and come in a myriad of colors and fabrics. Try large polkadots for a lighthearted look. For up to the minute style, wear a layered dress with a short underskirt and a maxi-length sheer overskirt. You’ll show a little leg and be totally covered, too. Add a little edge by wearing your dress with a pair of chunky booties, or glam it up with a pair of towering stilettos.
Accessorize. Turn any outfit into a Christmas outfit with the right accessories. Try layers of pearls with anything cashmere for a bit of sophisticated glamour. A shiny, statement necklace is both eye-catching and slimming. Try a brightly colored handbag (think jewel tones – ruby red, azure blue, etc). Anything bright, shiny, and bold will create a glamorous holiday effect.
Don’t be afraid to try something new, like a sleeveless jumpsuit, or a dress with color blocking up the sides, which creates a slimming effect. Look for simple updates to your current wardrobe – a new sweater, moto jacket, or a great oversized necklace. The perfect heels can perfect any outfit. And as always, top off your outfit with confidence and a great smile.
