Create Wire Globes with Planter Baskets
Wire planter baskets are typically lined with shredded coconut hull mats and filled with soil and plants. They can be used in other creative ways that do not include plants of any variety. When looking for easy ways to make unique lighted globes that include strings of lights, combine two wire planters of the same size and style. Wrap them with strings of LED lights in colors of your choice before combining the open ends to create orbs. Attach the open ends of two planters using ordinary wire that matches the metal. Hang them from coordinating metal chains, twisted wire or braided rope of your choice.
Transform Candle Lanterns into Beautiful Lighted Fixtures
Candle lanterns with glass panes come in all sizes from very large and impressive to small and beautifully detailed. They are designed to hold real wax and flame candles or the battery-operated variety, but they can also be used to make unique lighted glass fixtures that include strings of lights. Fill the interior with loosely balled strings of LED lights in colors of your choice. Blue, amber or white are gorgeous options that can be used year round. Thread the lights through an opening in the back. If necessary, create an opening to accommodate the strings. Do you have wire baskets that are not being used? They can be turned into unique sources of light for indoor or outdoor use. Creatively wire strings of LED lights around the baskets or fill the baskets with canning jars. Fill the jars with strings of lights using the photo as a guide. Hang them from the handles using twisted strands of wire or chain. If desired, combine two baskets by folding down the handles and placing one over the other. Wire them together to create visually interesting and brighter hanging light fixtures with unique metal frames.
