The Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle allows you to mount a tablet next to a monitor using the rear monitor VESA mounts that most monitors have. The Universal Tablet Cradle is made mostly of composite materials and comes with all hardware and screws to attach the cradle to your monitor.
The Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle can be attached on either side of a monitor and can be used when the monitor is in the landscape position but the cradle can mount on the left or right side. The cradle that holds the tablet can hold your tablet in landscape or portrait position depending on the tablet size with larger 10 inch tablets being a better fit.
The tablet or eReader holder has two adjustable arms on the bottom that slide in and out but only move from 5.5 to 8 inches wide and the height adjusts from 8 to 9.75 inches. This allows most tablets and eReaders a decent fit but for smaller ones like the Nexus 7 you may need to alter things.
I found that adding a channel instead of the two adjustable arms allows me to remove a bit of height so the tablet cradle holds my Nexus 7 tablet a bit more securely. The two small arms and the top spring loaded holder does not quite hold smaller tablets so you may have to adapt the cradle for these smaller tablets.
The Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle does a great job of holding a tablet next to a monitor for better work flow or just to have a place for your tablet when not out and about. The Universal Tablet Cradle can be used well with the tablet cradle that comes with it but for odd situations or the smaller tablets you can do a bit of do it yourself work and make smaller tablets fit.
The Ergotron Universal Tablet Cradle can also be used by itself without the mounting section directly on a VESA capable monitor arm. You can mount a tablet on a monitor arm using just the tablet cradle for individual use of a tablet on a monitor arm easily.
I did have to add a channel to get my Nexus 7 to fit on the tablet cradle and using a couple of homemade brackets was able to get a 9 inch monitor to fit as well. If you’re looking for a tablet cradle that mounts next to your monitor the Ergotron Tablet Cradle is a fantastic option and one that I highly recommend.
