Experience Counts I just recently had a situation in which I was called upon to help a very ill, very young, puppy that was thrown out into the drink like trash. The kind woman called me after getting my number from a local vet, when someone brought the pup to her and described the horrible circumstances in which the pup was found. It was very ill, moaning in pain and having seizures sporadically, but ate some food for her savior. I had her bring the pup to the vet, where it was determined that the pup was in the second stages of a very aggressive illness with no sound immune system or health to treat it with any quality of life. I had to make the decision to save this pup by sending it to Heaven.
Logical Reasoning It took me a long time to figure out that trying to save an animal and keep it in the living world was not the only way to save it. If you have an animal in this condition and it is at a caring and empathetic vet, never pause to worry about how it will die. It will go peacefully with a kind, comforting hand and voice as it falls asleep and goes to Heaven to play in eternity with no pain, fear, or hunger. Many people my age and even older would say there is never a reason for an animal to be ‘killed’. I was one of those people for awhile. Kill shelter euthanize large numbers of domestic pets that have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or just had too many litters of pups and kittens and not enough people to care for them. Once I would have said, “Never bring them to be euthanized, bring to some wild place and set them free with a chance at life.” While these poor fur babies in shelters still deserve a better send off by the person holding the needle that will end their lives, they also deserve to be understood and saved by any means necessary. Female cats and dogs are at a disadvantage, to say the least, in the woods on their own. They become prey for wildlife or often starve or go back to populated places where evil people may intentionally torture it or it may get hit by a car and die slowly in agony on the side of the road.
Euthanasia Cruel & Kind The kill shelters and holding facilities are often overwhelmed with animal that they will have to euthanize within days of intake. Many, but not all, of these people tend to become jaded and unfeeling when it is time for euthanasia, so it becomes an automatic distasteful chore that is done over and over again. Therefore, each animal euthanized is not looked on as an individual feeling creature, and no kind word or touch is offered as it fades out of this world. But, veterinarians go to great lengths to become animal doctors, and most, when euthanizing an animal, always have a kind word and touch for that animal, especially if no one is there to comfort it themselves.
America Neglecting the Needy Billions of dogs and cats are born into the U.S. because the government refuses to act on the overpopulation problem. They leave it to cities, counties, and citizens to contend with, but it is not taken care of because government is not active in pursuing ways to decrease the misery and suffering of all these animals in the United States. It’s not an important issue for them; other countries’ starving children and civil unrest is what our country prefers to concentrate on. There are billions of homeless children, mentally ill people, elderly people in our land, and there is nothing done for any of them. So here we have our own U.S. citizens in dire need of help and animals’ people domesticated suffering starvation, disease, abuse, just because it seems that helping the weaker and less independent populations is beneath our government to reach out to.
Question of Life Time Care Dogs and cats intelligence only goes as far as a human toddler of 3-4 years old,for the most part, not including some of their inherent instincts that are still intact. That is, the ones that haven’t been breed out of them by domesticating. So they are children that are left to suffer at the hands of human adults, just like human children, mentally ill, and elderly people. If this does not disgust you, then it is obvious that America has become callous and jaded to others suffering at home as well.
Embarassing Naked Fact Wake up American government and do something about our needy creatures. End the suffering of billions of pets that end up being euthanized due to neglect, abandonment, illness, and injury. Stand of for the rights of all more vulnerable that need our help. Or continue to be hypocritical and prove my words right.
