Four more spots for Halloween and fall fun in the Western New York area.
Holiday Hollow, located at 1410 Main Rd. (Route 5) in Corfu, hosts a “Halloween Shire” in a Renaissance Faire environment. The annual Halloween Festival takes place on Saturdays and Sundays in October beginning October 5, plus Columbus Day, Monday, October 14, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. all days.
Watch some or all of the shows at the Festival, including the comedy/action Captain Hook and Mr. Smee Show, the Talking Pumkin Show, the Wacky Witch Show, and the live action of Hunt for Jekyll and Hyde. The shows take place outdoors in the “Shire” if the weather cooperates, or moves indoors to the theatre if there’s rain (hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. only). There is also Hook’s Hideout Dark Maze, the Riddle Trail, the Haunted Parlor, Admiral Portley’s concessions for food, and Treasure Island and Cricket Cottage for gifts and toys. Wheatfield Pumpkin Farm, located at 6920 Nash Rd. in Wheatfield, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through October 30. Their mini corn maze is family-friendly and part of the Family Fun Pass, available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends in October for $6 per person. The Pass also includes a hayride, play area, drink and popcorn. Haunted Hayrides, starting at dusk, are $8 for adults, $6 for kids 13 and under; dates are October 12, 18, 19 and 25 through 30.
The Cambria Corn Maze, located at 5274 Lockport Junction Rd., Rt. 270 in Lockport, features two corn mazes in a 12-acre field as well as pumpkins, refreshments, local products and produce for sale. The Cambria Corn Maze is open Wednesdays through Sundays, now through November 3. Hours are 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; the last tickets are sold one hour prior to closing. Tickets are $10 for adults (15+), $5 for kids 5 to 14 and free for kids 4 and under – cash only please.
The Arcade and Attica Railroad, located at 278 Main St. in Arcade, has fall foliage runs, wine tasting runs and a Halloween Haunted House taking place in October. Fall Foliage Runs are scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, October 11 through 13 and October 18 through 20, plus Monday, October 14 (Columbus Day). These two-hour trips go through some of Wyoming County’s most scenic countryside as you enjoy the beauty of fall behind a steam engine. The trips take place Fridays at noon, Saturdays and Sundays at noon and 3 p.m., and October 14 at noon; reservations close Thursdays at 4 p.m. for that weekend’s excursions. Tickets are $15 per person.
A Wine Tasters Special runs Saturday, October 19, departing at 6 p.m. The trip features a sampling of premium wines, a lecture from WNY Wine Tastings’ Josh Blumberg and hors d’oeuvres. This 21-and-over event is $27 per person pre-paid (reservations required).
The Halloween Haunted House takes place Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27 at noon and 3 p.m. both days. The Currier Depot is turned into a haunted train station, and visitors are encouraged to come in costume. Tickets are $16 per person.
