Fall is here and winter is just around the corner. This means I will be going sweater and boot shopping. Sweater shopping isn’t the easiest. Some sweaters are itchy while others are frumpy. However, there are plenty of stylish options that will keep you warm and fashionable. From casual pullover styles to cozy cardigans, here are six fashionable sweater weather outfits for chilly weather.
The Sweater Dress and Tights
Glamour says a knit sweater dress is a must-have winter layering fashion essential for 2013. The sweater dress is a classic that allows you to dress up when it’s cold. Choose one with an a-line skirt to keep your outfit from looking too clingy. This can be paired with thick tights. Boots or flats are good choices for shoes. This pointelle sweater dress from Victoria’s Secret comes in brights and neutrals. It’s perfect for a fall date night.
Sweater With Ruffled Bottom, Dark Jeans and Ballet Flats
I love how designers are adding lace and ruffles to the bottom of sweaters and sweatshirts. It adds a feminine touch to any sweater. Personally, I think the trend looks best when the ruffles are a different fabric and color than the sweater material. Try wearing a dainty ruffled sweater with dark jeans and some ballet flats. I love this Valentina sweater from Anthropologie. Along with the ruffled bottom it has a lace inset and bow in the back.
The Tunic Sweater With Leggings and Boots
Nothing says fall like a tunic sweater, leggings and tall boots. When it’s cold, I love wearing leggings because they are comfortable. The tunic length gives me some more coverage than a shorter sweater. In addition, when it’s really cold, you can put a long-sleeved shirt underneath and a form fitting jacket over the top. Some boots that fall just below the knee are perfect.
The Chunky Knit Cardigan with a Feminine Dress
Harper’s Bazaar calls the chunky knit cardigan a “timeless” winter fashion. It looks great with a feminine dress made from light material with lace accents. You can also wear it with a fitted t-shirt and jeans. Here is one option from Asos.com.
The Boyfriend Cardigan and a Skinny Belt
A boyfriend cardi is a slightly longer cardigan with a relaxed fit. These are great to throw over pretty much anything. They look especially nice with jeans, a fitted-T and a skinny belt. In addition, they can provide a pop of color over a black dress. Try this inexpensive boyfriend cardigan from American Eagle.
The Basic Pullover Sweater and a Leather Mini
Basic pullovers were all over fashion magazines for must-have picks for both fall and winter 2013. A basic pullover can be wore with a leather mini for going out or pair it with slacks for the office. I like this swiss dot raglan sleeve pullover from Banana Republic.
Sweater weather gives me plenty of reasons to be fashionable.
