Already a box office smash, Fast and Furious 6, which is called “Furious 6” in the opening credits, is electrifying from start to finish. The majority of the cast of Fast 5 returned to the big screen once again.
Absent from the group were Tego Leo (Tego Calderon) and Rico Santos (Don Omar), but fans won’t be disappointed when they discover that the previously departed Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) has risen back to life and is ready and willing to kick some serious butt.
If you’re an admirer of muscle cars, this is the film for you. Whereas the first movies in the series focused primarily on ricers, number 6 redefines muscle mania with an extra touch of class. The Jensen Interceptor was a clever addition with its powerful 280+ horsepower engine and sleek design.
The villain of this picture is Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), initiates his menacing reign of violence in a modified sports car that has a metal scoop welded on the front bumper and hood that can essentially lift and fling other vehicles that cross its path. It’s also bullet resistant and highly maneuverable.
If you watched Fast 5, you’re undoubtedly wondering by now what this has to do with the crew being reunited. After all, they are all loaded after splitting the $100 million that they heisted from a drug lord.
While living the peaceful domestic life, Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker), and the mother of his newborn son, Mia (Jordana Brewster), who also happens to be the sister of Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) discover that Letty may still be alive after a visit from nemesis and Federal Agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson).
With the assurance of receiving pardons for the group, who are feeling homesick, the whole crew follows Hobbs to Europe to track down Letty. Mia stays home to care for her baby and is joined by Dom’s new girlfriend, who he met in the last series, Elena (Elsa Pataky) who just happens to be a former police officer with exotic good looks.
Han (Sung Kang) and his lady love Gisele (Gal Gadot) are finally getting to the point where they’re considering the “M” word when this all takes place. Roman (Tyrese Gibson) gets the call to join up with the group while flying in a private jet on the way to a romantic weekend with four scantily clad ladies and Tej (Ludacris) answers his phone after showing the local boys that just because he drives a slick car doesn’t mean that he’s different than them.
Fans will appreciate the spectacular scenery of the Canary Islands and Europe where the crew battles other drivers, trucks and the occasional tank or airplane in their mission to locate Letty and bring her home.
You won’t be disappointed in this moment by moment action packed movie, but there’s an fundamental message that we see repeated throughout the scenes; family is more important than all the money on the planet.
