Usually stalking is not a funny subject, but “X: The Web Series” is a clever parody about love, obsession and as the famous song says, “I’m goin’ out of my head Over you!”
At first, Libby Turner (Laura Nargi) and Brett Foglestein (Doug Duke) fell “in lust” for each other as they become involved in a short affair.
Libby is an attractive girl who wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. In fact, “no” was not in her vocabulary when it came to Brett.
Although the characters spoke their lines, the footage was shot in the style of the early silent movies with the accent on facial expressions and exaggerated actions.
Libby’s face was perfect for this style as she easily ran through the emotional peaks of the film with vivid characterizations of happiness and other feelings.
As a member of a local band, Brett was used to spending his time drinking, partying and with his pick of women. Although Brett thought of Libby as a one-night stand, her feelings grew into a deep obsession.
Are we about to see a low-budget take-off on Glen Close’s “Fatal Attraction”? In desperation, Brett moved to Los Angeles but later found that was not far enough.
It was simply a minor setback for Libby as she plotted to find him.
Somehow Libby found Brett’s new address and was off to Los Angeles, happy in her own demented way.
When Libby arrived, Brett wasn’t home but she found the key, entered and while waiting for him fell asleep.
Complications arose when Libby realized Brett had a new girl friend and the main question was “How far will Libby go to get Brett back?”
An eerie feeling comes over the viewers as they watch Libby practice shooting her gun. Maybe the writer added this as a warning of things to come.
Will Libby flip-out and become even crazier than she is now?
