Five Unique Photo Ideas for a Trash the Dress Party

by fat vox

A trash the dress party is a way to cut loose and break into your new marriage full stride. It involves getting dirty, but can be lots of fun for many new couples. Make sure to take lots of photographs or hire a professional photographer for the event. Don’t forget to include friends and family, even if your mother isn’t so thrilled with the idea of your wedding dress being destroyed. Here are five ideas to get started but let your own creativity take you where you want to go, because after all, the point of a trash the dress party is to get very unique memories and photographs.

Food Fight!
Simple but tried and true, food fights are fun, explosive and memorable. Simply gather some friends and pick a location, if money allows, find a cafeteria you can rent for the novelty of it, otherwise parks, fields, pretty much anywhere will work. Pick bright colors such as red and yellow so it doesn’t just appear to be dirt. You can also dye food you have prepared with food dye to get more exotic colors.

Squirt Guns!
Fill squirt guns with diluted paint and blast away. Have the groom’s men chasing the bride’s maids around or vice versa. Just be sure the bride gets sprayed the most. Look for a non-toxic paint and avoid getting sprayed in the eyes. Initially you may want to wear eye protection just to be safe. Never ingest paint.

Rain Dance!
Slow dancing outside on a rainy day with the groom can be a great way to get some unique photographs. Start out with an umbrella and ditch it halfway through. Stay thoughtful and just have fun with it. Splash each other in the puddles. Make sure to keep the photographer somewhere dry, as to not damage or ruin any equipment.

Tag, You’re It!
Gather some wedding members or friends and family, paint your hands and simply play tag. Before long everyone will be covered in hand prints. Additionally, throw, smear and just go crazy after you’re already coated to add more color. Again, look for non toxic paint and use eye protection if needed.

Pet It!
If you have any pets be sure to include them in the new family’s photos. Find a muddy place and play fetch, run around with your four legged friend, and just have fun. Be sure to get covered in lots of paw prints. Don’t be afraid to get dirty, you want it to be memorable not clean.

These are just a few simple suggestions, don’t be afraid to get elaborate. Whatever you may do, make sure you have a way to clean up afterwards. Be prepared with paper towels or wash cloths. If you drive to a location take plastic bags or sleeves to cover your car seats with or possibly a change of clothes. If you do it in a public location bring bags for trash and don’t litter. Most of all have fun and take a lot of photographs!
