Not everyone has the time or the funds to regularly go to a gym, especially those that have many obligations. On the other hand, some people have plenty of extra time, but they have absolutely no desire to workout on equipment next to total strangers. They would prefer to exercise in their house rather than in a public location. Equipment can be quite expensive, but it is not necessary. Work with what you have to improve your physical health and appearance. A gym membership or a weight room is not required to achieve long-term success.
Use Your Stairs for Exercise
Countless people go out and buy stair stepping equipment to use indoors. It is a great investment if the house does not have stairs, but if it does, do not waste your money. Use your stairs for exercise. Begin a healthy new habit, and walk up and down the stairs during television commercials or a specific number of times each day. It is a fantastic way to get moving, even while watching TV.
Buy an Exercise DVD of Your Choice
Exercise DVDs are very valuable workout tools, especially when they do not require equipment of any kind. They are inexpensive and ideal for just about everyone, even those that cannot dance or participate in high-impact aerobics. You can find DVDs for those with arthritis and other physical limitations as well as fast-paced dances or aerobic workouts. DVDs enable people to stay home and workout when time allows. Some only require 15 minutes of your time each day and nothing more than a cheap stretchy band.
Use Canned Goods as Weights
When a person is overweight, lifting weights while working out is not really necessary. After all, they are already carrying added pounds. Simply moving the arms and legs is beneficial for someone that wants to lose fat while strengthening muscles. If you feel the need to lift weights, use items found around the home. Canned goods are ideal, and since they are labeled, you will know exactly what they weight. Place them in a sturdy handbag that can be used especially for exercise instead of just holding the cans. Since they are not designed for exercise, the handbag will keep them contained. Just add more or less to change the amount of weight that you want to lift.
Walk Briskly in Place While Watching TV
Walking in place is a great way to burn calories without equipment. Walk briskly in place while watching your favorite TV shows. Fifteen minutes of high-speed marching is equal to just about one mile of brisk walking on an indoor or outdoor track, sidewalk or any other location. In any case, the television is a fantastic distraction while exercising indoors. Before you know it, you will have walked off countless calories, and all in the comfort of your home.
