The Bible can be a source of inspiration, guidance, joy, and even laughter. After underlining portions of the same Bible for many years, I decided to compile my marks in a series of articles. The following verses are what I underlined from The Living Bible Paraphrased, and are exact quotes about women. The comments are my own opinions yet the Bible quotes are real. If you think the Bible is boring, this just might change your way of thinking.
A Crabby Woman
Proverbs 21:9 says “It is better to live in the corner of an attic than with a crabby woman in a lovely home.” Different translations of the Bible can change one word to offer new meaning. This verse and translation always puts a smile on my face.
If you have ever had a difficult relationship with a woman, this should make you feel good about moving to a less than luxurious location. God’s word just might give you comfort that having a good life away from conflict can be better than looking rich in a fine home and being unhappy. It could also help a woman see that being crabby is not a good thing.
Constant Dripping
Proverbs 19:13 says “A constant dripping on a rainy day and a cranky woman are much alike. You can no more stop her complaints than you can stop the wind or hold onto anything with oil- slick hands.” This verse can bring about a smile plus some wisdom.
If you find yourself unhappy and can no longer tolerate complaints that irritate like constant dripping, perhaps moving away from it can bring you peace. For those women who like to complain, perhaps reading this will bring about a desire to change. Either situation could be better with the laughter this verse might bring about.
A Fine Gold Ring
“A beautiful woman lacking discretion and modesty is like a fine gold ring in a pig’s snout” is the verse from Proverbs 11:22 to ponder. Men just might feel better to leave the ring they purchased with a woman that lost her discretion, or good judgment, and escape the situation.
Women might take heed of this verse and improve on their values and decisions. People tend to remember humor and silly things. This verse could bring about some change and discussion for men and women to learn from.
The Bible can help us have a better life. It is difficult to be angry at someone while you are laughing. If men and women read these verses and laugh, learn, and make some positive changes together that is a good thing. Maybe the Bible is not so boring after all.
