Other Countries See Our Shame
The world knows that the United States is not capable of running an efficient government with the fact the US government shutdown recently. What must other nations think of the powerhouse nation that is the United States of America? The country, other countries, look to in times of need, such as the recent conflicts in Syria. Even with the government shut down the United States, faithful Navy Seals are still carrying out missions in efforts to protect us from terrorist attacks. The belief that I live in one of the greatest countries in the world is still inside of me, but is now smothered with political rhetoric, distrust of political leaders, who were voted into to office by those who believed they had the best interest of the country in their heart, and embarrassment. I am ashamed of my country right now.
Leaders’ Child-Like Behavior
I have to give the House leaders credit for passing a bill to retro pay the 800,000 furloughed workers who are out of work because of a government shutdown. I question is this really a shutdown of our government or a shutdown of the minds who now control our country. The shutdown of their ability to function in a manner benefitting all Americans rather they are Democrats, Republicans, Tea Party, or no party. It has gotten to point in our fair land when words such as government, Congress, or vote are uttered, people groan with dismay. These highly paid officials are shaming us as “the land of the free and home of the brave” by being cowards, who are unwilling to compromise. The same as a 5 year old who wants what they want, and nothing else will do until they have that thing. In other words, leaders with the aptitude or mindset of children are operating our country.
We The People Did Not Vote For This
When will this shutdown not loom over our heads as citizens of the United States? When will the need of the people be placed before the need to win; whether that win is a republican, tea party, or democratic win? When will the people win? This is a country that purports it is for all of its citizens, yet it furloughed 800,000 citizens and does not care to help insure the disadvantaged population on our own soil. Will Americans lose faith in the ability of our government or should I say will Americans continue to be given reasons to lose faith in the ability of our government. This is a government for the people, supposedly ran by the people, with the benefits of elections and voting. However, I cannot find one individual American who voted for a government shutdown.
